CNN —Mark Ruffalo celebrated his new star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Thursday, and had a little help from a certain “13 Going On 30” cast member. Jennifer Garner was on hand to honor the man of the hour, which felt right since the beloved film in which they costarred celebrates its 20th anniversary this spring. Garner joked that she “kicked off the Mark Ruffalo rom-com era,” and also rattled off the names of some of the other actresses who have played opposite Ruffalo including Jennifer Aniston, Keira Knightley, Gwyneth Paltrow and Reese Witherspoon. In the 2004 movie, Garner played a teen who wishes to be older and finds herself in the body of her 30-year-old self. “To work with you Mark is to love you, I don’t care what anyone says,” she said to laughs from those gathered.

A simple, sustainable routine can be an effective way to build muscle and burn fat with less time and effort, said Adam Enaz, a personal trainer and dietitian specializing in fitness transformations. Too much cardio can be a waste of time if you want to build muscle. A concept called progressive overload is key to getting great results lifting weights, Enaz said. Eat enough food, especially proteinIf you're working hard in the gym but not seeing results, you might not be eating enough to build muscle. Eating more won't necessarily build muscle tissue any quicker, and can lead to fat gain instead.

Lauren doesn’t bother to keep a lid on his simmering contempt, he just recodes it as a stream of virtue-signaling cant. Martin Shkreli, former chief executive officer of Turing Pharmaceuticals AG, exits court in New York, US, on Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2023. What does former President Donald Trump have in common with "Pharma bro" Martin Shkreli? A penchant for harshly trolling their enemies online and an attorney general who wants both of them banned for life from their preferred business. The ruling stemmed from an antitrust lawsuit James, the Federal Trade Commission, and six other states filed against Shkreli. James, in that case, asked Judge Arthur Engoron to ban Trump for life from the New York real estate industry and to bar his sons, Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump, from that sector for five years, along with fining them $360 million.

A federal appeals court Tuesday upheld a lifetime ban on "pharma bro" Martin Shkreli from working in the pharmaceuticals industry as well as an order to pay up to $64.6 million in disgorged profits for blocking competition to the drug Daraprim. His lawyer, Benjamin Brafman, in a statement to CNBC on the appeals court decision, said, "The lifetime ban is too severe." In its eight-page ruling, the appeals court noted that Shkreli argued that Manhattan federal court Judge Denise Cote "abused" her discretion in imposing a lifetime ban on him from the drug business. "The district court found, and Shkreli does not dispute, that Shkreli's illegal scheme was "egregious, deliberate, repetitive, long-running, and ultimately dangerous." "Given his strategic decision in the district court, there is no injustice to Shkreli by us declining to address his new argument."

Opinion | Why Wasn’t DeSantis the Guy?
  + stars: | 2024-01-19 | by ( Katherine Miller | ) www.nytimes.com   time to read: +1 min
The back read “Can’t Miss DeSantis” and featured a cartoon drawing of Mr. DeSantis, flanked by palm trees, playing beer pong. The existence of the T-shirt suggests that it once seemed possible, to someone anyway, to adopt the MAGA intellectual ethos of using the state to rebalance society and smash ideological enemies, and also be relaxed, normal, above it. And that’s where you’d find the theoretical Mr. DeSantis, ironically playing beer pong at a Bucs tailgate after church and a Home Depot run. This is reading a lot into a T-shirt, but ideas and realities about who candidates are, and what voters really want, seem central to understanding the last few years in politics. And even in 2022 that T-shirt stood out for the way its relaxed, fun bro diverged from the harder, more lawyerly governor who promised an updated, aggressive social conservatism that would use most tools of the state to battle academics and bureaucrats.

However, that became more of an issue earlier this year when Musk, as the new boss of Twitter, now X, got rid of the trademark blue check sign of authenticity - now only available at a price. The rise of artificial intelligence has blurred the lines between what is real and what is not, leaving celebrities, brands and social media influencers - among others - keen to prove their authenticity. One of the most notable news stories of the year about deepfake images was of those appearing to show former President Donald Trump being detained by police in a dramatic fashion back in March. In 2022, Merriam-Webster chose “gaslighting” as its word of the year, saying it had become a ubiquitous term in the “age of misinformation.”Other words that led much traffic to the online dictionary in 2023 included coronation, dystopian, indict and doppelgänger. Meanwhile “rizz” went straight to the “top of lookups” in September, when the example of internet-driven slang was added to the dictionary.

BOULDER, Colo. (AP) — Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders missed the season finale at Utah on Saturday due to a fracture in his back, according to a YouTube video posted by “Well Off Media.”The site is run by one of coach Deion Sanders' children and has been tracking the Buffaloes with behind-the-scenes footage throughout the season. The title of the video was, “Colorado Ends Their Season 4-8 With Loss To Utah: PAC 12 Refs Are TERRIBLE: Shedeur’s Injury.”It's unclear when Shedeur Sanders suffered the injury. He was sacked 52 times this season behind a struggling offensive line that Deion Sanders has pledged to bolster before next season. Shedeur Sanders needed at least two pain-numbing injections this season to get through games and a few days off from practice every so often to recover from hits. It was a roller-coaster first season for Deion Sanders after he was brought in to turn around a 1-11 program.
