Donald Trump hates not being the center of attention. So on Tuesday he announced a third run for the presidency, even though Republicans rightly worry his announcement will change the Georgia Senate runoff from a referendum on President Biden to one on Mr. Trump. Fox News exit polls in Georgia showed Mr. Trump’s favorables were 44% and his unfavorables 54%, with 45% very unfavorable. Even some of the former president’s supporters hoped he would stay off the stage at least until after the runoff. But seething from the defeat of so many of his endorsed candidates, and agitated that the spotlight was on other potential 2024 GOP contenders, Mr. Trump filed to run hours after one of his favorite candidates, Kari Lake , was declared the loser in the Arizona governor’s race.
Social media users are sharing a clip of a sheriff discussing a ballot disbursement incident in Tulsa County and claiming that this took place in the battleground state of Arizona. However, Tulsa County is located in Oklahoma and the incident affected about 30 to 40 voters. KJRH-TV, an NBC affiliate in Tulsa County, reported on Nov. 11, 2022 (here), that the District Attorney is investigating the irregularities. Arizona does not have a county called Tulsa County (here). The closely fought governor's race between Lake and Democrat Katie Hobbs was one of the most significant in the general election because Arizona is a battleground state and will likely play a pivotal role in the 2024 U.S. presidential election. After the Arizona governor race was called, Hobbs wrote on Twitter: "Democracy is worth the wait." [1/4] Republican candidate for Arizona Governor Kari Lake speaks at the Republican Party of Arizona's 2022 U.S. midterm elections night rally in Scottsdale, Arizona, U.S., November 8, 2022. Voters in Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin also rejected election deniers in races for governor and other statewide election posts. On Monday, she won the seat currently held by Republican Governor Doug Ducey, who could not seek re-election because of term limits.

Democrat Katie Hobbs won the race for governor of Arizona, NBC News projected. Hobbs ran a low-key campaign against Lake, a leading denier of the legitimacy of the outcome of the 2020 presidential election. Hobbs refused to debate Lake, saying she did not want to give the GOP nominee the opportunity to spread conspiracy theories. She accused Lake of being "only interested in creating a spectacle," while Lake called Hobbs a "coward" for not debating.

Kari Lake, a Trump-endorsed candidate for Arizona's governorship, lost to Katie Hobbs on Monday. Lake previously thanked Liz Cheney in a sarcastic letter for boosting campaign donations. Rep. Cheney lost her primary election against Trump-backed candidate Harriet Hageman in August. Lake, who had previously questioned the outcome of the 2020 election, on Sunday called Arizona "the laughingstock of elections" after results indicated she was losing the race. Representatives for Cheney and Lake did not immediately respond to Insider's requests for comment.
WASHINGTON — The Supreme Court on Monday declined to block the release of Arizona Republican Party Chair Kelli Ward’s phone records to the House committee investigating the Jan. 6 riot at the Capitol. The justices rejected an emergency request filed by Ward, meaning that phone records associated with her T-Mobile cellphone will be disclosed to the House committee. The committee is pursuing only Kelli Ward’s records. At the Supreme Court, Ward argued that the subpoena violates her right to freedom of association under the Constitution’s First Amendment. Those actions have come under scrutiny by the Justice Department as well as the Jan. 6 committee.
Democratic Secretary of State Katie Hobbs won Arizona’s governor race, the Associated Press has projected, in one of the most closely watched contests in the country. Her opponent Republican Kari Lake , a former local TV anchor, has become a prominent ally of former President Donald Trump and proponent of his false claims of a stolen 2020 election.
REUTERS/Jim UrquhartWASHINGTON, Nov 14 (Reuters) - Control of the U.S. House of Representatives hinged on Monday on several tight races that could secure a majority for Republicans following midterm elections that saw President Joe Biden's Democrats beat expectations and retain the Senate. Republicans were closer to winning the House, having secured 211 seats compared to Democrats' 206, with 218 needed for a majority. "That has to be a focal point of every single committee in the Congress, especially in the House under Republican control," Banks told Fox News on Sunday. The Nevada win put Democrats in charge of a 50-50 Senate, with Vice President Kamala Harris holding the tie-breaking vote. Lindsey Graham, a veteran Republican senator, said planned Senate Republican leadership elections should be postponed until after the Georgia race.

On "Sunday Morning Futures" Arizona candidate for Governor Kari Lake lambasted the state's election process. It has been five days since the election on Nov. 8 and her race has not yet been called. Lake called the state's voting procedures "embarrassing" and called Arizona "the laughingstock of elections." "We need to get in there and restore faith in our elections," Lake said. "We can't be the laughingstock of elections anymore here in Arizona and when I'm governor I will not allow it.
Control of the Senate - and the shape of President Joe Biden's next two years in office - will now hinge on contests in Nevada and Georgia. Democrats needed one more seat for control, since Vice President Kamala Harris can cast the tie-breaking vote. Political analysts anticipate a rush of campaign funds into Georgia as Republicans and Democrats gear up for the final battle of the 2022 midterm elections. In the fight for control of the House of Representatives, Republicans were inching closer to becoming the majority and ending four years of rule by Democrats. The Republican House leader, Kevin McCarthy, has already announced his intention to run for speaker if Republicans take over, an outcome he has described as inevitable.
A Democratic victory in Georgia next month would then give the party outright majority control of a 51-49 Senate. A Democratic loss in Georgia and a win in Nevada would still put Democrats in charge of a 50-50 Senate, as Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris can break tie votes. The Senate currently is split 50-50 between Democrats and Republicans. With nearly 97% of the vote counted in the Nevada Senate race, Laxalt was leading by around 800 votes. It could take at least a few more days before the outcome of enough House races are known to determine party control of that 435-seat chamber.
While Maricopa County election officials initially categorized the problem as a "hiccup," it took hours before a solution was identified early Tuesday afternoon. Kyrsten Sinema won her seat in 2018, she did so with 50% of the statewide vote, including the 51% she took in Maricopa County. Maricopa County election officials responded that the tweet was inaccurate and "all voters are being served."

Democrat Sen. Mark Kelly is running against Republican Blake Masters in Arizona's high-profile Senate race. Polls closed in Arizona at 7 p.m. local time, or 9 p.m. EST, as freshman Democratic Sen. Mark Kelly of Arizona faces off against newly-minted Republican candidate Blake Masters in a highly charged race for the state's US Senate seat. Embattled former President Donald Trump endorsed Masters in early June based on Masters' denial of Joe Biden's lawful victory. His opponent, Masters, has raised $12 million, spent $9.4 million, and has $2.6 million of cash still left to spend, as of October 19. Thiel's pro-Masters Saving Arizona PAC, for one, has poured more than $17 million into the race through September.
PHOENIX, Nov 7 (Reuters) - The campaign headquarters of Kari Lake, the Republican candidate for Arizona governor, reopened on Monday, a day after authorities began investigating a suspicious white powder that was delivered by mail to the Phoenix office over the weekend. Hobbs condemned the suspicious mail that was sent to her opponent's campaign, calling it "incredibly concerning." The Lake campaign and Phoenix police did not immediately respond to a request for more details. Lake was not at the Phoenix office when the mail was received, she said. Neither the FBI statement, nor those from the Phoenix police of fire departments, referred to Lake or her campaign by name.

The contest between Mr. Kelly and Mr. Masters could determine who controls the Senate, and the next governor of Arizona will hold significant power over the 2024 elections there. Several of our participants saw each of the two races as a choice between the lesser of two evils. More than a few participants said their dislike was rooted in a gut feeling about Mr. Masters. For the governor’s race, some participants saw Ms. Lake’s inexperience with government as a liability, while others, tired of career politicians, viewed it as an asset. Ms. Hobbs engendered fewer strong feelings, with one participant calling her “a wet noodle.”Of the 12 participants, one said he might split his vote for Mr. Kelly and Ms. Lake.

WASHINGTON — Arizona Republican Party Chair Kelli Ward asked the Supreme Court on Wednesday to prevent her phone records from being disclosed to the congressional committee investigating the Jan. 6 riot. Circuit Court of Appeals, rejected Ward's arguments that the subpoena issued by the committee should be blocked. The committee is currently only pursuing Kelli Ward's records. At the Supreme Court, Ward argued the subpoena violates her right to freedom of association under the Constitution's First Amendment. Those actions have come under scrutiny by the Justice Department as well as the Jan. 6 committee.
