An employee works at the Airbus A350 assembly site, in Colomiers near Toulouse, south-western France, on December 9, 2022. A lot has changed in the four years since one of the aviation industry's biggest air shows was held in person. The question is whether Boeing , Airbus and their numerous suppliers can catch up. Over the past year, Boeing has logged large orders or preliminary agreements from customers including United Airlines , Saudia and new Saudi carrier Riyadh Air. Air India's massive order earlier this year included both Boeing and Airbus jets.

REUTERS/Eric Gaillard/File PhotoISTANBUL, June 5 (Reuters) - Airlines took aim at Europe over green fuel mandates and its failures to stem France's air traffic control strikes as they weigh on carrier capacities at a global airlines meeting in Istanbul on Monday. In 2021, the body released its strategy to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2050, including a progressive increase in sustainable aviation fuel use. A global approach to book and claim for SAF credits will help facilitate economies of scale in SAF production," he said. FRAGMENTATIONHowever, IATA said the EU's approach could cause more fragmentation by forcing airlines to buy SAF in Europe, ultimately hampering a harmonized global approach and sowing confusion.

"There's still discussion in Portugal how that privatisation will take place and it's not supposed to be 100 percent privatisation," Spohr told journalists at the annual meeting of the International Air Transport Association in Istanbul. At least three major global carriers, Lufthansa, Air France-KLM (AIRF.PA) and British Airways-owner IAG (ICAG.L), have shown an interest. Lufthansa said last month that it was taking a 41% stake in Italian carrier ITA Airways in the latest major consolidation in the aviation sector in Europe. "Boeing are saying it's delivery in late 24 or early 25 - which means it's early '25," Spohr said. European startup carrier Global Airlines has purchased its first plane — the Airbus A380 superjumbo. The plan differs from many other carriers that have been actively retiring the A380 due to high costs. A little-known startup carrier called Global Airlines has bought its first plane — the mammoth Airbus A380. The carrier announced the purchase on Monday, revealing the jet was acquired from German investment firm Doric Aviation. A few other carriers like Singapore Airlines and Lufthansa have also continued flying the A380 post-pandemic.
TOKYO, May 28 (Reuters) - An Air France KLM SA (AIRF.PA) passenger plane flying from Osaka in western Japan to French capital Paris turned back on Sunday after weather radar and speed meters malfunctioned while flying over the Pacific Ocean, Kyodo news agency reported. None of the 324 passengers and crew were injured, but the aircraft's leading edge was damaged and the cause was being investigated, Kyodo said, citing the transport ministry's office at Kansai International Airport. Air France flight 291 took off from Kansai airport around 11:15 a.m. (0215 GMT). The Airbus SE (AIR.PA) A350 turned back about 35 minutes later and landed safely at the same airport at around 2:25 p.m. The Kansai airport office of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism did not answer telephone calls from Reuters seeking comment.

Victoria Paris, 24, issued a very public complaint against Air France, and asked her followers to "wage war" on the airline. Her 1.7 million TikTok followers obliged and spammed the airline's social media comments with demands for her bag. The same day she mobilized her fans, Air France reached out to let Paris know that it located and shipped her bags back to her. When an airline loses your luggage, it typically results in a weeks-long process to retrieve your items — that is, unless you're an influencer with 1.7 million TikTok followers. Air France did not immediately respond to Insider's request to comment on the incident.

Airlines scheduled a near-record 51,000 flights from June through August from the U.S. to Europe, according to airline data firm Cirium. The number of scheduled seats is the highest since 2018. Despite that increase in capacity across the Atlantic, fares are up sharply as airlines test travelers' appetites for trips abroad. JetBlue is flying to London's two largest airports from New York and Boston, and plans to launch service to Paris from New York in June. Delta plans to offer a record number of seats from the U.S. to Europe, up 20% from last summer.

[1/3] An Air France aircraft, operated with sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) produced by TotalEnergies, is refueled before its first flight from Nice to Paris at Nice airport, France, October 1, 2021. Sustainable aviation fuel, or SAF, is typically made using biomass-based feedstocks such as soybean oil and used cooking oil. Honeywell said its process can reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 88% compared with traditional petroleum-based jet fuel. SAF is typically two to four times costlier than petroleum-based jet fuel. The United States produces around 24.7 billion gallons of petroleum-based jet fuel annually.
A couple of major European airlines, including Air France , are telling travelers not to contact the company through Twitter. Twitter has long provided a fast way for frustrated fliers to reach airline customer-service desks—a service many people used last summer as hold times on the phone stretched for hours. Airlines themselves encouraged customers to reach them via Twitter.
Some airlines will no longer handle customer service requests over Twitter. A clever customer service hack for dealing with airlines is becoming harder to do thanks to Elon Musk's changes to Twitter. Both Air France and its sister airline KLM will no longer field customer service requests over the social media platform, the companies announced over the past few weeks. The paywalled API contributed to Air France's decision to suspend customer service through Twitter, the Journal reported. The airline is seemingly still fielding customer service requests over Twitter.
Emirates' new check-in store is 30 minutes from the airport by public transport, and 15 by car. The location should allow passengers to avoid long lines and crowds at the airport. Emirates is getting ready to open a store that would allow passengers to check in and drop off their bags without having to go to the airport. Much like an airline desk at any airport, it will also give passengers the option to book travel, according to Emirates. Emirates' robot check-in assistant is called Sara and is equipped to match faces with scanned passports and give passengers instructions.

REUTERS/Regis DuvignauMay 5 (Reuters) - Air France-KLM (AIRF.PA) on Friday reported better-than-expected first-quarter revenue and robust cash flow as it benefited from a global recovery in air travel and strong summer ticket sales. The carrier's revenue grew 42% year-on-year to 6.33 billion euros ($6.97 billion), just above the 6.30 billion euros expected on average by analysts polled by the company. Air France-KLM said it did not see an impact from the cost- of-living crisis, pointing to more than 1.5 billion euros in ticket sales over the first quarter and to a strong demand across its network. Air France-KLM said the impact from French air-control strikes had been limited and was in the millions of euros, which it quantified as smaller than the impact from previous strikes.
British Airways-owner IAG sees travel rebound lifting forecasts

LONDON, May 5 (Reuters) - British Airways-owner IAG (ICAG.L) said strong ticket sales for summer travel and a winter season which beat expectations meant 2023 profit would come in above its previous forecasts. IAG's positive outlook is in line with Europe's major airlines. Lufthansa, easyJet and Ryanair have all pointed to robust summer bookings, showing consumers prioritising travel spend despite high inflation and an uncertain economic outlook. Air France-KLM (AIRF.PA) on Friday reported better-than-expected first-quarter revenue and said it was seeing strong summer ticket sales. It posted an operating profit before exceptional items of 9 million euros, well above the 179 million euro loss expected by analysts.
