Bank of America warned against seeing Nvidia as a potential long-term pullback victim while cautioning that today's artificial intelligence boom is altogether different from the 1990s dot-com bubble. Nvidia briefly rallied 3.8% on Thursday, helping send the S & P 500 above 5,500 for the first time, only to later retreat as much as 3.8%. Additionally, Arya pointed to demand among cloud customers for Nvidia's new Blackwell AI accelerator systems. The analyst said on-premise enterprise and sovereign AI demand as well as software monetization is still in the "early stages." When all is said and done, Arya said that Nvidia's valuation is still "compelling."

Amazon said Thursday it has removed 95% of the plastic air pillows from its packaging in North America and will replace them with paper fillers made from 100% recycled content. It marks Amazon's largest plastic-packaging reduction effort and will help it remove nearly 15 billion plastic pillows annually. The e-commerce company began transitioning away from plastic filler in October 2023 when it announced its first U.S. automated fulfillment center to eliminate plastic-delivery packaging. Amazon collaborated with suppliers to instead source paper fillers that are also curbside recyclable. This is not the first step that Amazon has taken to reduce its packaging waste.

The average monthly US electricity bill this summer will be 3% higher than last year, the EIA says. AdvertisementThe possibility of a warmer-than-typical summer will make energy prices higher, the US Energy Information Administration said in a new report. The EIA finds that the average US electricity bill from June through August will be $173, a 3% climb over last year. The biggest dollar-amount increase will be seen in Mid-Atlantic states, where the average bill will rise by $14, the EIA said. In September, a Texas heat wave sent spot electricity prices up 20,000% and caused the state's grid operator to issue an emergency.

Economists don’t expect the average mortgage rate to fall below 6% this year. Two different families — each sporting every imaginable combination of spikes, horns and frills — diversified across the landscape, using their headgear to signal mates and challenge rivals. Seventy-eight million years later, members of that ancient profusion are still turning up, leading to a modern boom in discoveries. The researchers argue that this is a new species, and with others like it suggest that the area from Mexico to Alaska was full of pockets of local dinosaur biodiversity. The skull of the dinosaur in question was discovered in 2019 by a commercial paleontologist on private land in northern Montana.
