The new nine-month Supreme Court term officially starts Monday, with the justices appearing in the courtroom to hear oral arguments. Major cases at the Supreme Court: U.S. v. Jordan Vonderhaar for BIIn late July, after Biden dropped out of the race, I traveled to Starr County to see why this longtime Democratic stronghold has been shifting steadily to the right. Like the mesquite and huisache that thrive in this arid climate, he has deep roots in Starr County. If any place embodies the dual identity among Latinos in Starr County, it's the Rancho Cafe in the tiny town of Roma. The Rancho Cafe — part Old West saloon, part Tex-Mex hangout — embodies the dual identity of local Latinos. Across the country, Latino Republicans say they feel more able to wear their politics on their sleeve.

And Trump is all but guaranteed to resurface at the Supreme Court in coming weeks to clarify the sweeping criminal immunity the court bestowed on him in July. “As matters stand now, this feels like the court is keeping its powder dry in case the election explodes,” Carter Phillips, a veteran Supreme Court litigator, told CNN early last week. A poll released by the Annenberg Public Policy Center on Wednesday found 56% of Americans disapprove of the Supreme Court. Take, for instance, Trump’s ban on travel from predominately Muslim nations, which made repeat trips to the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court has already dipped into next month’s election in a few emergency cases, two of which involved third-party candidates trying to remain on state presidential ballots.

Assuming the Senate continues confirming pending nominees when it returns in November, the next president is poised to inherit the smallest number of judicial vacancies since when George H.W. 'Set their sights on getting judges confirmed'The amount of judicial vacancies at any one time is fluid and can rise or fall based on circumstances. During his four years in office, Trump appointed 234 federal judges, the second-highest amount by a one-term president. “If Trump is elected, the judiciary becomes the Trump judiciary,” said Maggie Jo Buchanan, managing director of Demand Justice. Some Republicans believe that tradition will continue in the coming years, which could limit the amount of judicial vacancies the next president is able to fill.

The (Donald) Trump campaign, on the other hand, is looking to the Sun Belt. Instead of knocking on doors in key states, Trump’s allies are using funding from tech billionaire Elon Musk to do some nontraditional things. But some things are still going to be much more expensive on Election Day than they were when Trump was president. It’s one month to Election Day, but that’s a little bit of a misnomer. No matter what happens with the 2024 election, Trump is unlikely to accept the results if Harris wins.

"They're trying to keep her away," Steve Shurtleff, a former Democratic speaker of the New Hampshire House of Representatives, said of the Harris campaign. Harris’ campaign has acted as if she’s sitting on a lead, even though she has failed to separate from her opponent, former President Donald Trump, others said. That may look different in today’s evolving media environment than prior campaigns, but coupled with campaign events, aggressive organizing and a historic paid media campaign, it’s a winning approach." “They are very cautious,” a person involved in Harris’ race said of her campaign. New York CNN —The Middle East is in chaos, and the oil market is remarkably calm about it. The chill reaction in the oil market reflects a boy-who-cried-wolf mindset that has set in. Even just two years ago, oil prices skyrocketed to $130 a barrel in March 2022 after Russia invaded Ukraine. Oil prices skyrocketed in 2019 when Saudi oil facilities were damaged in an attack that US officials blamed on Iran. Nonetheless, Trump told his advisers that he would claim victory before the ballots were fully counted, prosecutors say. One private political adviser, three days before Election Day 2020, described Trump’s plan as: “He’s going to declare victory.
