AdvertisementAs a luxury cleaning service owner, here are five things people get wrong when cleaning. If you're washing sheets, blankets, or even towels, I highly recommend using the setting for each. However, the items inside may get a shorter wash cycle than is needed. Some clothes need a longer wash cycle — for example, your family's sports choices. Bathroom rugs need to be refreshed in the dryer or shaken outside, at minimum, weekly.

At the presidential debate and on the campaign trail, Kamala Harris has hardly sounded like the Marxist or the Communist that Donald Trump has accused her of being. Asked to place themselves on an ideological scale, more Americans see Mr. Biden as too liberal than see Mr. Trump as too conservative. Nor is this tendency isolated to Mr. Biden: More Americans place themselves closer to Mr. Trump than to Ms. Harris on ideology, and in 2016, voters saw Mr. Trump as more moderate than Hillary Clinton. The reason is that despite embracing many popular policies, Democrats have fallen out of step with the American people on something larger: their approach to the world. To win, Ms. Harris will need to ignore calls to return to the orthodox fold and continue signaling strategic breaks from it.

Apple's AirPods Pro 2 now feature FDA-approved hearing aid capabilities. The Hearing Aid feature in Apple's AirPods Pro 2 is designed for people with mild to moderate hearing loss, and Apple said it can amplify voices, phone calls, and media sounds. So I sought out an expert in the hearing loss community to get a better understanding of whether we should expect Apple's hearing aids to be a hit or miss. The Over-the-Counter Hearing Aid Act of 2017 made it legal for the FDA to regulate the sale of hearing aids that don't require a prescription or a trip to the audiologist. As the daughter of a woman who suffers from hearing loss, I've witnessed my mother's denial of her struggles.

He predicted in 2000 that the S&P 500 would likely see negative total returns over the following decade, which it did. He predicted in April 2007 that the S&P 500 could lose 40%, then it lost 55% in the subsequent collapse from 2007 to 2009. The S&P 500, by comparison, is up about 32% over the past year.

But the past week's stimulus blitz did not offer fiscal support to China's discouraged consumers. AdvertisementChina's latest stimulus blitz offers everything but one key fix: new incentives to revive consumers. While Tuesday's stimulus package didn't address fiscal support, Chinese officials appear to be getting around to it. Even if China commits to bigger fiscal support in the near term, it could be too late to change things this year, Huang said. For instance, Chinese consumers are staying away from new housing projects even as China has introduced looser mortgage rates and downpayment rules.

Ukraine narrowly won the battle of Irpin in the war's earliest days. That's the conclusion of American and British experts who examined the fighting along the Irpin River northwest of Kyiv. "The Battle of Irpin River was a close-run thing," wrote Richard Sladden, Liam Collins and Alfred Connable in an article in British Army Review, a British military magazine. An attack in the east and south of Ukraine was the most likely course of action, therefore Ukrainian forces were primarily arrayed against this." Russian forces weren't prepared to rapidly deploy pontoon bridges to replace those across the Irpin River that Ukrainian troops had blown up.
