After OpenAI's board booted CEO Sam Altman, industry peers and colleagues voiced their support. AdvertisementSam Altman comes out of the OpenAI CEO situation looking like a Silicon Valley hero. What IS clear is that Sam Altman has come out of the situation looking like a hero so far. After some failed negotiations about returning to OpenAI, Altman is now heading to work at Microsoft. As the dust settles (well, maybe) a narrative has emerged: Sam Altman has come out of this very well.

Mr. Ross, 33, said the only watch he has ever really used was a Timex he wore while working for the Maine Conservation Corps after college.

"Part of building a business was going out and sharing what you were doing with the world," Bashir says. For years Bashir's startup had been building muscle around these capabilities; now it had an eager audience. Eating at acclaimed restaurants is fine, but Bashir prefers the more-intimate affairs at tech executives' homes because, she says, "you can stay longer."

SiriusXM announced Wednesday that it will launch a revamped app and a newly priced streaming plan as it pushes to attract younger customers. SiriusXM has shed subscribers recently, as it reported a loss of 94,000 satellite radio subscribers in the third quarter. The company is also simplifying its pricing structure, offering its new Streaming All Access Plan for $9.99 a month, a dollar cheaper than its current all-inclusive streaming plan. The cheaper price tag is another bid to attract millennial and younger customers, who may already pay for another streaming service. Select-model 2024 Polestar vehicles will come equipped with SiriusXM 360L technology, which combines satellite and streaming features, the company announced Wednesday.

"There was a lot of excitement and hope at the return of Bob Iger a year ago," a current Disney staffer told Insider. Uncertainty about the company's future and about who's deciding what on the creative side has left execs in a state of inertia, according to an entertainment lawyer with knowledge of Disney's business. The declining linear TV business culminated in a standoff with Charter Communications over terms for a new contract for carrying Disney's cable channels. And Disney's streaming business, which was supposed to make up for the decline in cable revenues, has lost $11 billion since Disney+ launched in 2019. Churn is a top concern in Disney streaming, some employees said.

Disney said Monday that Hugh Johnston, longtime chief financial officer of PepsiCo , will join the company as its new CFO, as the entertainment giant contends with a sagging share price and streaming losses. Johnston has spent the last 34 years with PepsiCo, holding various positions at the food and beverage company before becoming CFO in 2010. Johnston, who starts at Disney on Dec. 4, will report directly to CEO Bob Iger. "Very few companies have withstood the test of time that Disney has, making the company as rare as it is special." After graduating, I chose Google over other companies because it offered a lot more support and resources: The Google APM program was proposed by former Google executive Marissa Mayer who started the program in 2002 to recruit fresh talents. Getting into the program is hard — it is estimated that 8,000 people apply to the APM program each year, and only 40-45 get accepted. The Treasury Department subsequently kicked off a rule-making process to implement the order, and financial firms have been rushing to meet a Sept. 28 to provide input. While the U.S. already has restrictions on some Chinese investments in the U.S. and U.S. investments in China, the order creates a new program.
