Democratic allies of Mr. Biden have been alarmed by No Labels, worrying that any candidate it runs could siphon votes from him. “People are criticizing them because they believe whomever they offer on their ticket will hurt Joe Biden,” Mr. Phillips said after a town-hall event at a senior center in Nashua, N.H. “That’s false. “It would have to be a Joe Biden-Donald Trump rematch that shows Joe Biden is almost certain to lose,” Mr. Phillips said. Jack Burke Jr., who was the oldest living Masters champion and staged the greatest comeback ever at Augusta National for one of his two majors, died Friday in Houston. Burke, a member of the World Golf Hall of Fame, also won the PGA Championship and was equally skilled as a teacher. He built the fabled Champions Golf Club in Houston and delivered lessons along with a dose of homespun wisdom. His passing was confirmed by Steve Timms, the CEO and president of the Houston Golf Association who spoke with Burke's wife, Robin. This all-time high confirms the bull market that started in October 2022 when the broad index hit a low of 3,577.03. While the conventional wisdom holds a bull market is any gain greater than 20%, most market observers wait for a new high to be made before calling it an official bull market. The median length of a bull run is just north of 1,500 days. Performance in a bull market can vary. The longest bull run lasted between 2009 and 2020 — nearly 4,000 calendar days — with an overall gain of more than 400%.

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — Squelching speculation of a third-party presidential run, former Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan on Sunday endorsed Nikki Haley for the GOP nomination, saying he feels she “is the strongest chance” for Republicans to win in November. Hogan, one of his party’s fiercest Trump critics, had fueled speculation that he was preparing for his own third-party bid when he stepped down from the leadership of No Labels. Hogan told AP he had no interest in a “kamikaze mission.”In the past two presidential elections, Hogan said he did not vote for Trump, the party nominee. Hogan said he wrote in the name of his father, former U.S. Rep. Larry Hogan Sr., in 2016 and the late President Ronald Reagan in 2020.

"This is a market that's gotten itself a little jazzed up about rate cuts and when they're going to happen," he said. "If the wheels are coming off the economic cart and the Fed has to rush in to stimulate that, that's bad rate cuts, right?" "The good rate cuts are if the path of inflation continues toward the Fed's target. That's a good rate cut. No Labels founder Joe Lieberman is open to scrapping his bipartisan , third-party presidential ticket if the nonprofit political group cannot nail down the right candidates within the next few months. But No Labels has yet to officially nominate candidates, in part because the potential candidates it has contacted did not immediately sign on. Despite the ambiguity of the Unity Ticket, No Labels has been picking up steam with a base of wealthy donors, doubling its revenue last year over 2021. No Labels has faced heat from Democrats for its third-party ticket experiment, which could derail President Joe Biden's reelection campaign without assurance that the Unity Ticket could also beat Republican front-runner Donald Trump. He said polling shows that a No Labels ticket would draw voters equally from both parties.

Wall Street will endeavor to keep the November momentum going in the final month of 2023, as investors look for a broadening out of the rally that has been dominated this year by a handful of tech names. It also marked the best monthly performance for the S & P 500 and Nasdaq Composite since July 2022. While the S & P 500 cap-weighted index climbed more than 18% this year, the equal-weighted index is up by just over 4%. They highlight the attractive relative valuation of value stocks compared to growth stocks, as well as the significant underweighting of value names in portfolios by traders. And the question is, is it going to be in 2024, is it going to be 2025 or in 2026?

These deals help banks meet capital requirements more efficiently, allowing them to keep lucrative businesses that would otherwise become unprofitable. Investors in these deals include lightly-regulated entities like hedge funds, shifting risk to the shadow banking sector. Credit risk transfer is another tool for them to pursue after the Fed’s clarification on what is allowed, said Cory Wishengrad, head of fixed income at Guggenheim Securities. That means Merchants sold the riskiest tranche of the loan portfolio, maximizing the capital relief it could get on it. Whether U.S. regulators will allow such insurance deals to qualify for capital relief is still untested, Staudinger said.

Traders work on the floor at the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) in New York City, U.S., November 15, 2023. However, minutes from the latest Fed meeting on Tuesday showing policymakers' cautious approach towards monetary policy weighed on optimism around the prospects of a rate cut early next year. The three headwinds were higher energy prices, higher Treasury yields and a stronger dollar and for the last three weeks, all of those headwinds now become tailwinds," said Hogan. Advancing issues outnumbered decliners by a 2.31-to-1 ratio on the NYSE and by a 2.24-to-1 ratio on the Nasdaq. People with certain mental health problems are more at risk for experiencing the dangers of the climate crisis, experts say.
