The third pattern he looks for, which he picked up from Minervini, is the volatility contraction pattern (VCP). AdvertisementIntraday VCPThe VCP pattern can be spotted over multiple days or weeks. The spike in green volume bars parallel to the first price spike demonstrates this in the chart below. In Musk's own words, it's a declaration of "war" with the very people he needs to boost falling revenue at X. The recent sell-off in stocks could be a warning sign for what's coming for the economy, Mark Mobius said. If you look at the money supply growth in America, it is very low now," he said. We have more problems in the US and, that will affect the global situation unless the money supply is increased much more than it is now." Disruptions in the stock market are usually the signal "before the actual economic effects are seen," he added. A full-fledged bear market is unlikely, Bank of America said, as the market isn't flashing technical signals that would suggest a peak in stock prices.

In neighboring Xinjiang and Yunnan, The Times identified six new and 59 expanded border villages. Wealthy investors and family offices shied away from stocks leading up to market swings this week, but many saw the drop in prices as an opportunity for tax savings and estate planning, according to wealth advisors. When stocks tumbled Monday, with the S&P 500 and Nasdaq down 3%, wealthy investors neither panicked nor jumped in to buy, according to several advisors. The drop in prices last Friday and Monday also offered a chance for wealthy investors to take advantage of tax benefits and gift strategies. With the gift and estate exemption amount scheduled to expire at the end of next year, many wealthy investors are working to give away the maximum before the expiration. “Most family offices are so invested in alternatives, hedge funds, PE and real estate, that they aren’t moving their investments around anyway,” said Geoffrey von Kuhn, an advisor to several of the nation’s largest family offices.

As the dust settles from the high-octane Supreme Court term that ended last month, one clear winner has emerged: the “regulated community.”Three opinions limiting the power of federal agencies were met with cheers from a range of industries that, while not always in agreement, unite under that banner of mutual resistance to regulatory fiat. Their trade associations had written a slew of amicus briefs urging the justices to scrap a decades-old legal doctrine called Chevron deference, under which courts had deferred to administrative expertise.

China’s domination of electric cars, which is threatening to start a trade war, was born decades ago in university laboratories in Texas, when researchers discovered how to make batteries with minerals that were abundant and cheap. Companies from China have recently built on those early discoveries, figuring out how to make the batteries hold a powerful charge and endure more than a decade of daily recharges. They are inexpensively and reliably manufacturing vast numbers of these batteries, producing most of the world’s electric cars and many other clean energy systems. Batteries are just one example of how China is catching up with — or passing — advanced industrial democracies in its technological and manufacturing sophistication. It is achieving many breakthroughs in a long list of sectors, from pharmaceuticals to drones to high-efficiency solar panels.

Up to this point, wealth management businesses have only facilitated trades if customers specifically requested exposure to these new spot crypto funds. Of Morgan Stanley's $1.5 trillion in assets under management, the bank disclosed in a May 13F filing that it held around $270 million in spot bitcoin ETFs. The expectation is that other wirehouses and asset managers, who have been on the sidelines performing in-house due diligence on spot crypto ETFs, might feel the pressure to soon follow Morgan Stanley's lead. The spot ether ETFs, which launched less than three weeks ago, have seen relatively tepid flows compared to the blockbuster launch of spot bitcoin ETFs in January. The bitcoin funds collectively hold $54.30 billion in assets under management, versus $7.25 billion across the spot ether funds.
