Social media giant Meta announced Monday that it is banning Russian media outlet RT, days after the Biden administration accused RT of acting as an arm of Moscow’s spy agencies. “After careful consideration, we expanded our ongoing enforcement against Russian state media outlets. U.S. officials then accused RT of carrying out covert information warfare operations around the world on behalf of Russia's spy agencies. The Biden administration is imposing sanctions on a state-funded broadcaster that oversees RT, TV-Novosti; another state media company, Rossiya Segodnya; and its director, Dmitry Kiselyov, officials said. Meta started limiting Russian state-controlled media two years ago.

Like the overall market, Microsoft has been running higher of late as odds increasingly favor a 50-basis-point Fed cut. With so much hope on Wall Street, if the Fed were to go with a smaller 25-basis-point move, the market could get hit and pressure Microsoft stock. The Club has a $500 per share price target on Microsoft stock. That's our fundamental case, which aligns with technical analysis of Microsoft's one-year stock chart pattern. Unassigned desks help companies save on real estate because they typically have fewer desks than employees, rather than assigned workstations. In a Monday memo to employees, Jassy said that the company is going to bring back assigned desks in offices that once had them. Amazon's return to office and return to a fixed-desk mandate is in line with its recent crackdown on pandemic-era benefits. AdvertisementThe end of hot deskingWhile hot desking was first introduced by IBM in the 1990s, it became especially popular after the pandemic. During his tenure as CEO, Grove transformed the chip company into a giant of Silicon Valley that, during the 1990s, was as important to the PC market as Microsoft. Pat Gelsinger, who has led Intel as CEO since 2021, has enacted a sweeping set of new initiatives to turn the chip company around. Its Gaudi 3 AI chip, unveiled as a rival to offerings from Nvidia and AMD, is expected to generate just $500 million in sales this year. Meanwhile, Alvin Nguyen, senior analyst at Forrester, told Business Insider that this is a big public win for Intel. Gelsinger's second headline announcement was that the company is establishing Intel Foundry as a separate subsidiary within Intel, with its own new operating board and independent directors.

That also means that AI data centers are growing fast — as is the demand for them. That in turn is set to drive up the demand for cooling systems for data centers. We believe the demand for liquid cooling for AI data centers should sustain for the following 5-10 years, driven by continuous iteration of AI chips and rising heat dissipation requirements," Jefferies said in a Sept. 10 report. Read previewHealthtech startup Fabric launched out of stealth in March 2023 to help patients get care faster and automate administrative work for providers. In June, Fabric bought Walmart's virtual care business, MeMD, after the retailer announced it would shutter its 51 health clinics. MeMD was Fabric's third acquisition — the startup previously bought asynchronous virtual care platform Zipnosis from Bright Health, as well as generative AI startup Gyant. The startup has acquired TeamHealth VirtualCare, the virtual care business inside giant physician practice group TeamHealth, Business Insider has learned exclusively. While virtual care saw a tsunami of VC interest during the pandemic, investors and healthcare companies alike are now pulling back.

The caution was warranted, according to a new Microsoft threat intelligence report, which confirms the fabricated tale was disinformation from a Russia-linked troll farm. Notably, some of the recent examples cited in the Microsoft report received significant social media engagement from unwitting Americans who shared the fake stories with outrage. Apple is in discussions with JPMorgan Chase for the bank to take over the tech giant's flagship credit card program from Goldman Sachs , a person with knowledge of the negotiations said. But the move shows the extent to which Apple's choices were limited when Goldman Sachs decided to pivot from its ill-fated retail banking strategy. There are only a few card issuers in the U.S. with the scale and appetite to take over the Apple Card program, which had saddled Goldman with losses and regulatory scrutiny. JPMorgan is the country's biggest credit card issuer by purchase volume, according to the Nilson Report, an industry newsletter. Apple and JPMorgan declined to comment on the negotiations, which were reported earlier by the Wall Street Journal.

At Balyasny, Goodwin will effectively have his own unit, though he'll be under the flagship Atlas Enhanced umbrella and operate on BAM's platform, including access to its technology, risk management, hiring, and human resources capabilities. CNN —Microsoft said Tuesday that Russian operatives have in recent weeks intensified their online attacks on Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign by producing and disseminating videos promoting “outlandish conspiracy theories” aimed at stoking US racial and political divisions. One of the inauthentic videos, which Microsoft said had been viewed millions of times, claimed to show Harris supporters attacking an attendee of a Donald Trump rally. Russian operatives promoted the latter story through a website pretending to be a local San Francisco media outlet, Microsoft researchers said. CNN has requested comment on the Microsoft report from the Harris-Walz campaign and from the Russian Embassy in Washington, DC. Tehran has conducted a covert social media activity in an effort to undercut Trump’s candidacy, US officials have said.

Coca-Cola just ordered another round in the booming canned cocktail market. It's going with another classic, launching a rum and coke in collaboration with Bacardi Limited. The two brands announced Tuesday plans to release the ready-to-drink cocktail in several international markets, starting with an initial launch in Mexico and select European markets in 2025. The new drink isn't Coke's first entry into the premixed cocktail market. Later that same year, Coca-Cola brand Sprite partnered with Pernod Ricard's Absolut Vodka for two versions of a premixed cocktail, one with Sprite and the other with Sprite Zero Sugar.

China sent several warships and 15 aircraft to waters off Russia’s Far East coast for Ocean-2024, according to the Russian military. The latest Russia-China military drills fit a pattern of more than a decade of enhanced military coordination between the two countries, experts say. The joint drills also raise questions about whether the two nuclear-armed powers, which are not treaty allies, could act together in any potential future conflict. Russian military sailors attend the opening ceremony for a joint naval exercise in the South China Sea in July. But observers say that despite the growing coordination within joint drills, it’s unlikely there is a clear end goal past sending a strong signal – at least for now.

Amazon joins a growing list of major U.S. firms returning to a five-days-a-week office policy, including Boeing, JP Morgan Chase and UPS.
