United Airlines is planning to launch flights to Marrakesh, Morocco, and Medellin, Colombia, and ramp up its service to Asia, in the carrier's latest bet that consumers will continue to shell out for trips abroad. The flights from United's Newark, New Jersey, hub to Marrakesh are scheduled to begin Oct. 24 using a Boeing 767-300ER. The airline is also starting year-round service to Cebu, Philippines, from Tokyo's Narita Airport. U.S. airlines have increased their international service coming out of the Covid-19 pandemic, and revenue growth from trips abroad has outpaced domestic sales. United also said it will offer four weekly flights between Shanghai and Los Angeles starting Aug. 29.

The decision to blow open five tank cars and burn the toxic chemical inside them after a freight train derailed in Eastern Ohio last year wasn't justified, the head of the National Transportation Safety Board told Congress Wednesday. “There was another option: let it cool down.”However, that information was never relayed to Ohio Gov. But the agency won't release its final report on what caused the Feb. 3, 2023, derailment until it holds another hearing this June. "The successful controlled release prevented a potentially catastrophic uncontrolled explosion.”Krissy Ferguson, 49, has not been able to return home since the derailment. The NTSB has said that it appears an overheating bearing on one of the railcars caused the derailment.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Twenty-four Republican-led states filed a lawsuit Wednesday challenging a new Biden administration rule that sets tougher standards for deadly soot pollution. The EPA rule “will drive jobs and investment out of Kentucky and overseas, leaving employers and hardworking families to pay the price,” Coleman said. The soot rule is one of several EPA dictates under attack from industry groups and Republican-led states. Soot pollution has declined by 42% since 2000, even as the U.S. gross domestic product has increased by 52%, Regan said. The EPA said it will work with states, counties and tribes to account for and respond to wildfires, an increasing source of soot pollution, especially in the West.
