Chatham County employees dump a truck load of sand for residents to use in sandbag as they prepare for Hurricane Debby, in Savannah, Georgia on August 5. Stephen B. Morton/APHurricane survivors returning to damaged houses face a torrent of challenges – if they’re lucky enough to have a home at all. Residents should “return home only when local officials say it is safe to do so,” the Federal Emergency Management Agency says. Once you get there, “Walk carefully around the outside of your home to check for loose power lines, gas leaks, and structural damage,” the National Weather Service says. But prosecutors had no direct evidence tying Black to the location of the murder, an Ohio appellate court later said. In many cases, prosecutors themselves don't even have access to the source code and haven't reviewed the underlying technology. Back in Akron, the judge in Rankin's case ordered the Cybercheck evidence excluded after prosecutors failed to turn over the source code. The Summit County Prosecutor's Office declined to comment when reached by BI. It's unclear how many others may be behind bars because of Cybercheck evidence that was never rigorously scrutinized.

Where Tim Walz Stands on the Issues

Tim Walz of Minnesota, the newly announced running mate to Vice President Kamala Harris, has worked with his state’s Democratic-controlled Legislature to enact an ambitious agenda of liberal policies: free college tuition for low-income students, free meals for schoolchildren, legal recreational marijuana and protections for transgender people. “You don’t win elections to bank political capital,” Mr. Walz wrote last year about his approach to governing. “You win elections to burn political capital and improve lives.”Republicans have slammed these policies as big-government liberalism and accused Mr. Walz of taking a hard left turn since he represented a politically divided district in Congress years ago. Here is an overview of where Mr. Walz stands on some key issues. AbortionMr. Walz signed a bill last year that guaranteed Minnesotans a “fundamental right to make autonomous decisions” about reproductive health care on issues such as abortion, contraception and fertility treatments.

Activist investor Starboard Value has been engaging with the board of Autodesk , continuing its push to improve the company's operations and financial performance, according to a presentation viewed by CNBC. Starboard wants Autodesk's board to reassess whether CEO Andrew Anagnost, who has helmed the software maker for seven years, is the right person to lead the company forward, according to the presentation. The activist investor has shared the presentation's findings with Autodesk's board in recent weeks, after disclosing a $500 million stake in the company earlier this year. Starboard is also pushing for cost cuts and a realigned executive compensation plan, all of which it believes can drive margin improvement of up to 1,000 basis points. But Starboard has shown no signs of relenting, continuing to press the company and shareholders for change.

We saw another EMA crossover in May, signaling the end of the pullback and the start of a new bull run. July 2023 : Although the majority of the current correction unfolded in August, the EMA crossover signal had already appeared in July. For example, in May 2023, waiting for the EMA crossover would have meant missing out on 4.6% of the move. The trade setup: QQQ bull call spread To take a bullish trade on QQQ, I will be using a trade structure called a "bull call spread." For example, if QQQ is trading at $440 at the time of the EMA crossover, one could consider buying a 440-441 call spread.

As the Ukrainian soldiers raced through the ruins of the destroyed city under the spying eye of Russian drones, the skeletal remains of blasted-out buildings cast eerie shadows in the light of a full moon. Burned-out cars littered the road next to craters from artillery strikes in this city, Toretsk, in the Donetsk region of eastern Ukraine, that is now on the front line of the war with Russia. The hot July night smelled of violence — smoke and dust from destroyed buildings mixed with the sulfurous scent of explosives. The brigade allowed us to accompany them recently to view the destruction of Toretsk up close and the challenges Ukrainian forces face as they battle to keep control of the city. The only restrictions were that we not provide specific locations or other operational details that could compromise security.

With only days to consider a range of contenders, Ms. Harris and her team were inundated with unsolicited advice — much of it public — about whom she should pick. Andy Beshear of Kentucky, who has also been vetted by the Harris team, appeared at a Harris campaign fund-raiser in Chicago. Mr. Biden was at home in Wilmington, Del., over the weekend while Ms. Harris interviewed prospective running mates in Washington. A White House spokesman did not immediately respond to a request for comment about whether he had spoken to Ms. Harris as she finished her deliberations. Once she chooses, Ms. Harris will spend much of the next week with her running mate.
