An Oregon couple welcomed twins from embryos that were frozen 30 years ago — what some experts believe could be the longest frozen embryos to result in a live birth. Twins Lydia and Timothy were born on Oct. 31 to Philip and Rachel Ridgeway from embryos that were frozen on April 22, 1992. “It’s a tremendous blessing,” Rachel Ridgeway told TODAY. Molly’s sister, Emma, was born in 2017 from a 24-year old frozen embryo. “We really wanted to find those embryos that have been waiting the longest, that have been overlooked multiple times,” Rachel Ridgeway said.

“The culture in Cuba is in mourning for the death of Pablo Milanes,” Cuban Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz tweeted Monday night. Milanés and Rodríguez in particular became close, touring the world’s stages as cultural ambassadors for the Cuban Revolution, and bonding during boozy sessions. “If Silvio Rodríguez and I got together, the rum was always there,” Milanés told El Pais in 2003. Cuba’s aging leaders “are stuck in time,” Milanés told Spanish newspaper El Mundo. “These freedoms have been seen in small doses, and we hope that with time they will grow,” Milanés told The Associated Press.

It was still a contract role, but we had reached an agreement that they would continue renewing it for the foreseeable future.
CNN —The table is set, friends and family draw near, and you already know what comments or questions are going to come your way. Boundaries are hard, though, and it takes some preparation to know how to respond instead of reacting to protect your feelings, Orange added. Or you can be more playful when it comes to questions about weight loss with “I’m just thankful that my body does so much for me every day” or “I don’t know. I don’t focus on my weight.”And if the body-shaming talk continues or you don’t feel comfortable saying something, feel empowered to excuse yourself from the conversation, Rollin said. Start by redirecting with a nice comment and a new conversation like: “I love how much you love love and you want everyone to be as happily partnered as you are.

LONDON, Nov 14 (Reuters) - King Charles asked the British parliament on Monday to amend the law to allow two more of his siblings to act on his behalf in his absence, adding them to a group which currently includes his disgraced brother Prince Andrew. That currently means that in addition to Charles's wife Camilla and his eldest son and heir Prince William, the grouping comprises the king's younger son Prince Harry, younger brother Prince Andrew, and Andrew's eldest daughter Princess Beatrice. That has led to criticism from some commentators because neither Andrew nor Harry carry out official royal roles any more. Meanwhile, Harry stepped down from royal duties in 2020 and moved to California with his wife Meghan. The change will require parliament to amend the terms of the Regency Act.

The Supreme Court’s Other Racial Preference Case
  + stars: | 2022-11-09 | by ( The Editorial Board | ) www.wsj.com   time to read: 1 min
Racial preferences will be at the Supreme Court again Wednesday, but the issue in Haaland v. Brackeen is adoption, not college admissions. Under federal law, when a Native American child is being placed into an adoptive home, priority goes to parents who are also Native American. That puts tribal interests above what’s best for the child, and it’s a constitutional violation to boot. Chad and Jennifer Brackeen , who aren’t Native American, have taken in two siblings identified as A.L.M. to live in another State hundreds of miles away with either a great-aunt or an unrelated Navajo couple, rather than with her brother A.L.M.”

Fifty years ago this October, on Paris’s Left Bank, two siblings in their 20s opened Le Bernardin, a small seafood restaurant named after an order of monks who were also firm believers in the pleasures of the table. It would go on to expand to New York City and establish itself as one of the world’s most acclaimed dining destinations. “I guess it lasted,” says Maguy Le Coze, who co-founded Le Bernardin with her brother, Gilbert Le Coze, in 1972. Upstairs, a small legion of chefs, sous chefs, line cooks, sauciers, managers, captains, dedicated fish butchers and sommeliers, including the famed Aldo Sohm, is preparing for service. If the day proceeds as most usually do here, they will welcome up to 100 diners for lunch and another 160 for dinner.
