After we published our research, the story of driving rats went viral in the media. The tale of rat tailsIt wasn’t just the effects of anticipation on rat behavior that caught our attention. While it’s vital to study negative emotions such as fear and stress, positive experiences also shape the brain in significant ways. As animals – human or otherwise – navigate the unpredictability of life, anticipating positive experiences helps drive a persistence to keep searching for life’s rewards. That’s a lesson my lab rats have taught me well.

That left the personal identifying information of about 216,000 tech job candidates exposed. It's unclear why Alltech collected job seekers' Social Security or passport information. The rule, proposed nearly a year ago, was mandated by the Inflation Reduction Act, which could make it more difficult for the second Trump administration to dismantle. The methane fee will be charged by the federal government until the companies fix the leaks. This fee was paired with financial incentives for oil and gas companies to fix leaky pipelines or infrastructure. The rule could prove tricky for the incoming Trump administration to overturn because the program was included in Biden’s climate law, which passed Congress in 2022. Undoing it would take another act of Congress; while not impossible if Republicans take the House of Representatives, it could be an uphill climb and take longer than if the Trump administration were acting on its own.

The two internet search firms agreed a joint venture, called the European Search Perspective or EUSP, with ownership split 50-50 between both firms. Why build a European search index? Currently, alternative search engines like Ecosia, Qwant and DuckDuckGo don't develop their own back-end infrastructure. The new venture will see them build their own search index from scratch, however, amassing results from a mix of different search engines. Both companies will use the search index themselves but the tech will also be made available to other independent search engines and tech firms.

CNN —Donald Trump is returning to the White House, and the stock market is loving it. ‘The regime change’For now, stock market investors don’t seem bothered by the jump in bond yields or these inflationary or debt concerns. “The stock market jumped for joy that the election results were definitive, thus averting a contested election. Of course, market veterans say they wouldn’t be surprised to see the stock market eventually display concern about tariffs and inflation under Trump. That could pose a number of problems for the economy and the stock market.

Here's what to know about the universe and where "Hot Frosty" fits in. AdvertisementThe Netflix Christmas Cinematic Universe is expanding again with the streamer's new movie "Hot Frosty." Netflix's latest Christmas offering, "Hot Frosty," follows a woman (Lacey Chabert) who accidentally turns a snowman into a real man (Dustin Milligan) with the power of a magical Christmas scarf. In "Falling for Christmas" and some of the other Netflix Christmas movies, characters see "Christmas Prince" movies on their TV screens. For this to make sense, "Hot Frosty" and the "Christmas Prince" franchise would have to exist in a separate parallel world to "Falling for Christmas" within the Netflix Christmas universe.

Notice what these attackers aren’t saying. They aren’t denouncing Israeli policy or speaking up for Palestinian rights. They aren’t trying to make careful distinctions between Jews and Israelis. A great deal of attention has also been paid to some Israeli fans who pulled down a Palestinian flag, vandalized a taxi and, in Hebrew, chanted ugly anti-Arab phrases. As Leon Wieseltier pointed out years ago, this type of reasoning is not an explanation for antisemitism.

Nvidia 's still in early growth stages as artificial intelligence capabilities continue to progress, according to Redburn Atlantic. Analyst Timm Schulze-Melander initiated the stock with a buy rating and a price target of $178, which implies upside of 22.5%. Looking ahead, the analyst sees the AI powerhouse boasting 65% EBIT margin expansion and compound annual earnings growth of 38% between 2024 and 2030. The first growth driver is in accelerated computing, which aims to make AI data processing more efficient, Schulze-Melander said. The second factor behind Nvidia's growth case is the market's underestimation of demand for the company's products and services — even as rivals try to curb the chipmaker's dominance.

Nearly 63% of the US population has fluoridated water flowing through their taps, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Hawaii is the only US state without any fluoride in municipal taps; fluoridated water is only available there on military bases. As such, fluoridated water is now mandated on any military base with more than 3,300 people. Rumors have circulated that drinking fluoridated water can lead to bone cancer (osteosarcoma), but long-term studies from both the UK and US haven't found any credible evidence of higher rates in areas where people drink fluoridated water. Their review concluded that some studies of fluoride consumption have found links between higher fluoride water levels and lower IQs in kids.

Russia's economy faces stress as high interest rates fail to control inflation. Business leaders criticize high rates, warning of potential bankruptcies and an economic slowdown. The data from Rosstat, Russia's federal statistics service, show that food prices have generally risen across the board this year. To tame prices, Russia's central bank has hiked its key interest rate to a record high of 21% last month. High interest rates are irritating business leaders, who are more loudly critiquing the central bank's policies.
