There's an automation revolution taking place and blockchain technology could play a pivotal role in it, according to Scott Helfstein. "As we think about … this broader transition towards automation and digitalization, blockchain can really play an important role in securing information and facilitating data management," he said. Helfstein broke AI into various levels, from infrastructure providers like semiconductor companies and graphic chip makers to algorithm providers like OpenAI and its ChatGPT. Across all of it though is blockchain technology and a way to secure information fed into AI algorithms. Crypto is "interesting," he said, but corporate investment is pouring into automation and blockchain will play a "critical" role in its development.

That’s right: compact, portable and potentially snatching your perfect vacation from the jaws of lost luggage disaster, the travel accessory of the moment is the humble luggage tracker. “There remain significant problems with lost luggage this year, and this is likely to be worse still in the peak travel period this summer. Possibly because he was one of many: “At one point the agent I was emailing with told me that the building had thousands of lost bags,” he said. Elliot SharodElliot Sharod was one of the first to go viral for tracking his lost luggage through its AirTag. Both Lufthansa and Air New Zealand seemingly banned bag trackers in the hold last year – before swiftly reversing the ban in both cases.

Videos posted on the young influencer’s account showing her running and weight-lifting were shared heavily on Chinese social media and also appeared in various state media outlets following her death late last month. State media outlets said that the influencer’s family had received “compensation” from the weight loss camp in Shaanxi, but did not say how much. In China, as in much of Asia and the rest of the world, social media is awash with unhealthy and unrealistic trends promoting extreme weight loss. One notorious recent social media trend in China involved women posing behind vertical sheets of printer paper to prove their waists were so thin they could not be seen either side. Zhou’s death has also increased scrutiny of the social media influencer industry more generally.

Instead, she recommends, focus on the motivations that you know have already worked for you before. "A lot of times when people want to make a change, they want to make or break a habit," Rubin tells CNBC Make It. "They want to do something because it worked for a good friend of theirs or they read an article about [it]. The trick, in other words, is figuring out what motivates you and applying it to a wide variety of situations. New York CNN —Facebook-parent Meta plans to lower the minimum age for its virtual reality headsets from 13 years old to 10 years old, despite pressure from lawmakers not to market its VR services to younger users. In its Friday blog post, Meta said parents will be able to set time limits and enforce breaks for their preteens on the headsets. Meta also makes it possible to cast content from its VR headsets to a TV or phone screen, so parents can watch what their kids are seeing. Meta’s headset and Horizon Worlds represent Zuckerberg’s vision for a next-generation internet, where users can interact with each other in virtual spaces resembling real life. Update: This story has been updated to reflect Meta’s plan to continue restricting Horizon Worlds to users 13 and older.

Opinion What a Motherless Son Knows About FatherhoodWhen I was 8, maybe 9 years old, there was a day when students in my class could bring their parents to school. I’ve no memory of this proclamation of my paternal dreams, but I know I’ve long perceived fatherhood as a noble pursuit. My father-figure admiration likely originated from watching my dad, flummoxed by grief, in the years after the plane crash in which my mother died at age 37. My older brother, Brandon, age 6, and my identical twin, Spencer, were on the same plane sitting right beside her. The film fastidiously re-enacts the events of the plane crash and its immediate aftermath.

CNN —Mercedes-Benz and Microsoft have agreed to add ChatGPT to Mercedes-Benz cars in the United States. ChatGPT would make these voice commands more fluid and natural and could enable additional functions, according to Microsoft. The ChatGPT system can also interact with other applications to handle things like making restaurant reservations or purchase movie tickets, according to Microsoft (MSFT). Over the past decade or so, automakers, including Mercedes, have created increasingly sophisticated voice command systems for their vehicles. Some research has shown that the mental processing required to use voice commands is still distracting, though.

The effort, first reported by CNBC, marks Amazon’s latest attempt to incorporate generative AI into its services and has the potential to help customers quickly determine the pros and cons of various products. “Given that generative AI is based on probability, mistakes are possible … and summaries may not be an accurate reflection of customer reviews,” said Reece Hayden, a senior analyst at market research firm ABI Research. “These reviews will be treated equally and therefore the summary may reflect fake, non-customer reviews,” Hayden said. Some companies such as Shopify and Instacart are using the technology to help inform customers’ shopping decisions.

Meta Platforms ' vision to sell a future where people work, play and mingle in a virtual world may finally be getting its long-overdue validation thanks to an unlikely partner. Apple on Monday unveiled its highly anticipated mixed reality product, known as Vision Pro , at its annual Worldwide Developers Conference . So confident in the bright future of the metaverse, Facebook rebranded itself as Meta Platforms in 2021 to better reflect its vision beyond social media. More than a year and a half later Apple's metaverse entry may finally offer the much-needed support to Meta's overambitious vision, and lure once skeptical investors back to the virtual world. With the company — and metaverse vision — so dependent on consumer adoption, this creates a difficult near-term setup, Meeks said.
