New York CNN —The Republican nominee for president went on live TV and presented an unhinged, debunked Facebook rumor as fact. Scrolling on Facebook or X, it’s hard not to see some of that chaos creeping into the mainstream. Just a few weeks ago, the former president posted an AI-generated image on his Truth Social platform that suggested Taylor Swift had endorsed him. Of course, it was a fake image — the same kind of obvious AI slop that has overrun Facebook and X. Either Trump didn’t know the image was fake, or he didn’t mind lying to his followers and perpetuating the fake endorsement.

From the front door of X, which is closing up shop in San Francisco on Friday, Market Street runs straight through downtown to the bay. Now, as X leaves its spot, Market Street is still suffering from all the same problems it had before Twitter. Standing near them was another figure whose sway with the Republican nominee also cannot be discounted: the far-right provocateur Laura Loomer. Her anti-Muslim social media posts eventually earned her a ban from Twitter that lasted until billionaire Elon Musk bought the website, now known as X, and restored her account. She knows his personal number and has utilized it, one source familiar with the relationship told CNN. When Trump landed in Philadelphia on Tuesday before his debate against Harris, Loomer was among the close allies seen deboarding his private plane. In August of last year, Trump even suggested the campaign hire Loomer for an official role, sources told CNN at the time.

“Let’s have a good debate,” Harris said. The debate amounted to a missed opportunity for many Trump allies, who hoped that a solid performance would turn the page on Harris' "honeymoon" period. “She failed to meet the moment, with President Trump effectively reflecting the economic anxieties off Americans.”“Kamala’s joy doesn’t pay the grocery bills,” he added. “It is important that transgender individuals who rely on the state for care receive the treatment they need, which includes access to treatment associated with gender transition,” Harris wrote. In an early morning call-in to "Fox and Friends," Trump once again defended his debate performance and predicted Swift would regret her endorsement.

Trump responded with his own attack about Harris' rallies, but his demeanor also took a noticeable turn for the remainder of the debate. And while the two candidates basically don't agree on anything, Harris took one page out of Trump's book. The vice president had some noticeable facial expressions during the debate , something the former president has been known for. California Attorney General Rob Bonta cautioned executives at social media and other tech companies to work harder to protect voters from "deception, intimidation, and dissuasion," ahead of the November election. The letter reviewed sections of California law that prohibit interference with voting rights by misleading people about voting place and time and by using intimidation tactics. The letter follows pop icon Taylor Swift's endorsement of Kamala Harris for president on Tuesday night following the debate. Separately, X owner Elon Musk recently shared an AI-generated image portraying Harris dressed as a communist dictator. In August, an updated version of xAI's product, Grok-2, appeared to carry few limitations on creating fake images of political figures.

New York CNN —The battle over “founder mode” versus “manager mode” is one of those manufactured dramas that only a small segment of the world cares about — like going to Davos or Cannes or the Vanity Fair Oscar Party. The idea is that a founder knows their company the way a parent knows their child. Graham doesn’t really define founder mode because every founder and every firm is different. I’ll offer another: Ray Dalio, the founder of Bridgewater, one of the world’s biggest hedge funds. The most successful “founder mode” guys (they’re almost all male, as far as I can tell) seemed to always have a trusted manager by their side.

Several Brazilian stan accounts shared their final posts with the tag #MeuUltimoTweet, or #MyLastTweet, and many have not posted since. The reaction from the international stan community to the Brazilian X ban underscores the contributions Brazilian fans have made to the evolution of online fandom. Brazilian fans have created popular memes, influenced how fans communicate with each other and introduced new terminology, Amado said. “Being a big stan account or an update account feels like it’s very invisible work,” Rodrigues said.

Business Insider's Brent D. Griffiths has a rundown on everything you need to know heading into tonight . A newly released Times/Siena poll shows Trump holding just a one-point advantage over Harris among likely voters. For Trump, the focus will likely be the economy, which is a high priority for voters and also a sore spot for Harris. The latest Times poll showed Trump (55%) held a big advantage over Harris (42%) regarding who would be better equipped to handle the economy. Trump will also likely target Harris' biggest vulnerabilities , which may include trying to define her shifting views as disingenuous flip-flops, Brent writes.
