The officials from the United States, Britain, Canada, Australia and New Zealand - known as the Five Eyes intelligence sharing network - made the comments following meetings with private companies in the U.S. innovation hub Silicon Valley. From quantum technology and robotics to biotechnology and artificial intelligence, China was stealing secrets in various sectors, the officials said. In response, Chinese government spokesman Liu Pengyu said the country was committed to intellectual property protection. The U.S. has long accused China of intellectual property theft and the issue has been a key sore point in U.S.-China relations. "The Chinese government is engaged in the most sustained scaled and sophisticated theft of intellectual property and expertise in human history," said Mike Burgess, the Australian Security Intelligence Organisation's director-general.

Three of the 11 Crop Watch producers increased their corn yield expectations this week, the most notable coming in eastern Iowa. A 3.77 for average Crop Watch corn yield is still below what was expected in July and August, and it would land above the 2022 yield but below that of 2021. Producers in Indiana and western Iowa also increased their Crop Watch corn expectations this week based on results from other fields. Final Crop Watch soybean yield for 2023 is likely to end at 3.5, up from 3.48 a week earlier. Only five of the 22 Crop Watch fields have yet to be touched, all corn: Both Dakotas, western Iowa, Indiana and Ohio.

The Oscars are enlisting a group of live television veterans to oversee its 96th show in March. Hamilton, meanwhile, has three Academy Award telecasts on his resume already, including the 82nd Oscars hosted by Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin and the 86th Oscars hosted by Ellen DeGeneres, in addition to 14 Super Bowl halftime shows and the London Olympics opening. The 96th Oscars are scheduled for Sunday, March 10, at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles. “Having worked with Raj, Katy and Hamish on many special and memorable projects over the years, we have full confidence in their vision for the 96th Oscars,” Walt Disney Television executive Rob Mills said. Like many awards shows, the Oscars have suffered decreased ratings in recent years, and not just because of the pandemic editions.

The ATM was supposed to wipe out bank tellers. And yet, here we are in 2023, with unemployment in the US at 3.8%, and an estimated 9.6 million jobs available. Tech typically creates more jobs overallSimply put, technology creates more jobs than it takes away. For example, there were fears that the advent of ATMs would put bank tellers out of work. And sure enough, a few years after the adoption of the ATM, there were fewer bank tellers per branch.

The equipment was not designed solely for military purposes and did not involve sensitive technology, SI Innotec told Reuters. "The accused were fully aware that the subject equipment would be used to manufacture a military submarine", the court ruled. Investors seeking exposure to Japan's growing gaming industry should look at technology and entertainment behemoth Sony , according to Goldman Sachs. Goldman expects shares of Sony Group Corporation to rise by 25% to 16,000 yen ($107) over the next 12 months. In addition, Goldman Sachs said there was significant growth potential for Crunchyroll, Sony's anime streaming service based in California, which it acquired in 2017. [1/2] Palestinian Hamas militants take part in a rally marking the 31st anniversary of Hamas' founding, in Gaza City December 16, 2018. In the 2008 Gaza war, Hamas rockets had a maximum range of 40 km (25 miles), but that had risen to 230 km by the 2021 conflict, he added. For Iran, Hamas has helped it realise a years-long ambition to encircle Israel with legions of paramilitaries, including other Palestinian factions and Lebanon's Hezbollah, according to Western officials. After Israel withdrew from Gaza in 2005, Hamas began importing rockets, explosives and other equipment from Iran, Western intelligence sources have said. Iran seized the opportunity to co-opt Hamas in 1992 when Israel deported about 400 Hamas leaders to Lebanon, the source close to Hamas said.
