The flurry of events signals a new phase of the campaign for Trump with his New York case now largely behind him. No longer tethered to a Manhattan courtroom during the week, Trump is expected to ramp up his activity as he pivots from the trial to the trail. But as he steps back onto the campaign trail as a convicted felon, the urgency for Trump has crystalized. Trump himself has also threatened his political opponents, continuing the retaliatory rhetoric that has permeated from his campaign since the onset. “They know Joe Biden can’t beat him in a fair fight, so they’ve disgracefully weaponized the justice system.”The Trump campaign, though, is not concerned Trump will muddy the message on immigration by focusing on his legal battles.

I join groups to meet new peopleThroughout my adult life, I've made friends by joining organizations, especially if I'm new in town. From that experience, I learned that in order to make friends, I might have to put myself in situations where I feel awkward. Almost 50 years later, I'm still amazed by the story that Dorothy, a divorced physician, described while I was having lunch at her home.

Allman, a free-spirited journalist who challenged American mythmaking in pointed, personal reporting over five decades on topics as varied as the Vietnam War and contemporary Florida, died on May 12 in Manhattan. In March 1970, as a 25-year-old freelance journalist, Mr. Allman, accompanied by two other reporters, walked 15 miles over the mountains in Laos to report for The New York Times about Long Cheng, a secret C.I.A. “At the end of the paved runway were three Jolly Green Giant rescue helicopters,” Mr. Allman reported. “Their presence is believed to be one of the reasons the United States tries to keep Long Cheng secret. The Jolly Green Giants are regarded as proof that the United States bombs not just the Ho Chi Minh Trail but northeastern Laos as well.”

— When Gil Curren's family moved into a run-down farmhouse in Walmart's hometown of Bentonville, Arkansas, in 1971, the now-retail giant wasn't yet a decade old. Craft cocktails, hipster coffee shops and chef-driven restaurants have popped up around the city. Realtor Kristen Boozman, who works for Sotheby's, helps clients search for homes in the Bentonville area, including many buyers who are relocating from another city. Home values have shot up in the Bentonville area. A Walmart spokeswoman said the Walton Family Foundation funds and advocates for affordable housing projects in the Bentonville area.
