Despite a run of positive economic data, including strong job growth and record unemployment, the economy has been a stubborn weakness for President Biden and Democrats, particularly among Black and Latino voters. The group rolled out a similar effort with an anti-“Bidenomics” message last year, but organizers said this campaign would be much larger in scope. Although Latino voters still overall lean Democratic, former President Donald J. Trump improved his performance with the slice of voters in 2020, and in some areas like South Florida and South Texas made sizable gains. Mr. Biden, on the other hand, has stepped his up — and has been looking to sharpen his own economic message after an earlier push to reclaim the term “Bidenomics” largely fell flat. The liberal organizations have earmarked $33 million to mobilize Hispanic voters for Mr. Biden and other key Democratic races in several battleground states.

Answering that question assumes understanding why we use the S & P 500 in the first place. While the Dow heavily favors industrial businesses — steel, chemicals, autos, oil and gas — the S & P 500 offers a more diverse representation. Also, the S & P 500 index is weighted by market value, which makes sense to professional investors. While certainly not a proxy for the S & P 500, it provides more exposure to other industries and stocks. As shown below, the equal-weighted S & P 500 has slightly outperformed the S & P 500 over the past 20 years.

These events tend to bring participation to the gold market because the commodity is viewed as a haven, he said. However, since the spot gold market is larger than the futures market, there is a tremendous amount of selling and buying volume for trading gold directly, which creates market depth at all times, he said. This creates more opportunities to capitalize by trading gold directly. However, in most cases, given the depth of the spot gold market (XAU/USD), order slippage is minimal, he noted. Bank of America says the ongoing "anything but bonds" bull market has led to a very top-heavy stock market. The firm is watching real 10-year yields and credit spreads for signals of when that AI-led rally could end. BofA says higher yields and tighter spreads could sound recession alarms and spur a stock sell-off. The key piece is the cohort of mega-cap tech companies that have long dominated stock-market performance, largely because of their affiliation with AI. In the meantime, if you subscribe to BofA's view, you should be watching the 10-year real yield for a signal of when any such downturn is coming.

Solar panels stand at the Welspun Energy solar power plant in Neemuch, Madhya Pradesh, India. One sector in particular — electrical power transmission — will see $270 billion in financial benefits, according to Goldman Sachs. While utilities like the Power Grid Corporation of India may be perceived as unsexy, compared to growth stocks like Tesla, India plans to promote renewable energy without the taxpayer spending a single rupee. The country has added about 70 gigawatts of solar power capacity over the past decade without piling on further costs by simply maximizing the grid's usage. Currently, state governments in India levy surcharges and taxes on every unit of carbon-intensive energy transmitted through the grid.

Shortly after the repeal bill squeaked through the Arizona House on Wednesday with support from every Democrat, as well as Mr. Gress and two other Republicans, anti-abortion activists denounced Mr. Gress on social media as a baby killer, coward and traitor. The Republican House speaker booted Mr. Gress off a spending committee. CNN —More than a hundred thousand protesters took to the streets of Buenos Aires and other cities in Argentina Tuesday to demand President Javier Milei increase funding for public universities. The University of Buenos Aires (UBA) said in a statement that around 800,000 people took part in the protests in Buenos Aires, while Milei’s government claimed there were 150,000 protesters, according to local media. Milei’s government has defended its decision to freeze the 2023 budget for public universities, announcing increases only in operating expenses, which according to the UBA account for just 15% of spending needs. Students, teachers and political leaders take part in a march against budget cuts to universities in Buenos Aires on April 23. In January, labor unions organized a nationwide general strike against austerity measures and reforms, and thousands took to the streets to protest.
