Israeli forces kill Palestinian militant in West Bank

General view of the closed shops during a strike following an Israeli raid in Nablus, in the Israeli-occupied West Bank, September 25, 2022. REUTERS/Raneen SawaftaNABLUS, West Bank, Sept 25 (Reuters) - Israeli forces shot and killed a Palestinian militant on Sunday during an army operation in the occupied West Bank, Palestinian officials said, in the latest in a series of incidents in recent months around the volatile town of Nablus. In Nablus, site of one of the largest refugee camps in the West Bank, most shops were closed on Sunday after militant factions called for a general strike. U.S.-brokered peace talks aimed at establishing a Palestinian state in the West Bank, Gaza and East Jerusalem, collapsed in 2014 and the steady expansion of Israeli settlements since then has made reviving the talks increasingly problematic. However the Palestinian Authority, increasingly unpopular among many in the West Bank, says its ability to exert its rule has been systematically undermined by Israel.

Protestors stand in solidarity with Iranian women after the death of Mahsa Amini, in London, Britain September 24, 2022. He also said that "acts of chaos" were unacceptable and that Iran must deal decisively with the unrest. At the United Nations, he said extensive coverage of Amini's case was "double standards", pointing to deaths in U.S. police custody. The Norwegian envoy was also summoned to explain the "interventionist stance" of the country's parliament speaker, who has expressed support for the protesters on Twitter. State media said 12 bank branches were destroyed in the unrest in recent days, and 219 ATMs have been damaged.
Residents of Nova Scotia and other parts of Canada were bracing for hurricane-force winds and a potential historic storm surge as Hurricane Fiona approached Friday. “It is going to be certainly a historic extreme event for Eastern Canada,” said Bob Robichaud, warning preparedness meteorologist with the Canadian Hurricane Centre, at a briefing Friday. At 9 p.m. Halifax time, the storm was “accelerating quickly” toward Nova Scotia, Canada’s hurricane center said. Damage in Nova Scotia was estimated at almost $102 million, the CBC reported. In 2003 Canada was hit by Hurricane Juan, a Category 2 storm at landfall that ripped through Nova Scotia.
Central bank tightening — under the umbrella of monetary policy — is only one side of the equation when it comes to managing inflation. The other is fiscal policy, which is controlled by lawmakers in Congress. Coordinated fiscal- and monetary policy can have a compounding effect in stamping out inflation. But given that U.S. fiscal policy is not acting in concert with monetary policy, the Fed's efforts to bring down inflation have become all the more complicated. In the years since the 2007-2009 global financial crisis, expansionary fiscal policy — and monetary policy for that matter — has not posed much of a problem due to overall low inflation.
Mirabaud analysts suggest buying a company like Box or Coupa could help Salesforce goose growth. To get there, analysts from Mirabaud suggested that an acquisition might be a smart way to goose growth towards Benioff's $50 billion revenue target. "We've bought 60 companies — we'll always buy companies," Benioff said at the event, as Bloomberg reported. "M&A has been key to headline growth for Salesforce and needed to mask slower organic growth trends," the analysts wrote. The biggest concern is that Salesforce's partners reported some trouble selling multiple products to the same customers, analysts say.

Many of these claims are now viewed through the prism of ESG, or environmental, social and governance. But here's the rub: Definitions of ESG often vary and are hard to pin down. Over in the United States, scrutiny of claims about sustainability and ESG is also taking place. When contacted by CNBC, Vale — which has an "ESG Portal" on its website — referred to a statement issued on April 28. The debate surrounding greenwashing is becoming increasingly fierce, with the charge often leveled at multinational companies with vast resources and significant carbon footprints.

Fresh off the unveiling of Nvidia 's (NVDA) newest computer graphics card, CEO Jensen Huang on Tuesday tried to assuage investor concerns about the video gaming market, which has lately dogged the Club holding's stock. Still, Nvidia has accumulated too many computer graphics cards, Huang acknowledged, and said the semiconductor firm needed to address the issue. While those steps have led to short-term financial pain, the CEO suggested they were appropriate given the newest gaming chips are set to hit the market imminently . These latest computer graphics cards are hitting the market during a financially precarious moment for Nvidia's gaming business. "Of course, that resulted in Q2 and Q3 being a lot lower than we originally anticipated, but the overall gaming market remains solid," he added.
