A wave of pro-Palestinian protests spread and intensified on Wednesday as students gathered on campuses around the country, in some cases facing off with the police, in a widening showdown over campus speech and the war in Gaza. University administrators from Texas to California moved to clear protesters and prevent encampments from taking hold on their own campuses as they have at Columbia University, deploying police in tense new confrontations that already have led to dozens of arrests. At the same time, new protests continued erupting in places like Pittsburgh and San Antonio. Students expressed solidarity with their fellow students at Columbia, and with a pro-Palestinian movement that appeared to be galvanized by the pushback on other campuses and the looming end of the academic year. Protesters on several campuses said their demands included divestment by their universities from companies connected to the Israeli military campaign in Gaza, disclosure of those and other investments and a recognition of the continuing right to protest without punishment.

Jennifer Pan is the subject of a new Netflix documentary, "What Jennifer Did." Prior to planning her parents' murder with Wong and Crawford, Pan had previously asked a former classmate to kill her parents for her, but that classmate refused, Toronto Life reported. Toronto Life reported that Crawford gave Pan a discounted rate — $10,000 vs. a standard $20,000 — to kill her parents since she was a friend of Wong's. Through analyzing phone calls and text messages, police identified Crawford, Wong, Mylvaganam, and Carty, and arrested them in early 2011. If they don't, then Crawford, Pan, Wong, and Mylvaganam can seek parole on the attempted murder charge.

Health care shouldn't be overlooked as a place to buy amid the current market turmoil, according to Jamie Cox, managing partner at Harris Financial Group. He's been particularly interested in health care — pharma more specifically — as the industry feels tailwinds from artificial intelligence and the weight-loss drug boom. "The amount of money that the health care industry is making is being completely ignored by investors," Cox told CNBC Pro. "The noise of the short-term back-and-forth ... gives you good opportunity to buy high-quality companies, while people are just selling indiscriminately." For more diversified exposure, Cox recommended the Vanguard Health Care ETF (VHT) .

Making new friends can feel more daunting when you're past the stages of playgrounds, school sports teams, and dorm rooms. And the average person loses two social ties, including friends, when they get into a romantic relationship. As a psychologist and expert on human connection, I know that the people who are most successful in building and rebuilding their social circles are the ones who don't wait for new friends to come to them. I'd love to stay in touch, if you're open to it. People tend to be particularly open to building a connection when some sort of foundation is already in place.

CNN —Lesbian Visibility Week, celebrated each year at the end of April, was first observed in California in 1990 and is marked around the world and in lesbian living rooms across America — including mine. Many laws have criminalized gay men but not women, leaving us in slightly safer territory. Gay men are also more likely to be victims of hate crimes and violence. Gay men might be criminalized, but gay women have long been targeted, sometimes in heinous ways that fly under the radar of the law, and which go unprosecuted. On this Lesbian Visibility Week, I am grateful both to be seen and to slip quietly under the radar, unnoticed.

But now that my son is 10 and I've made it over the halfway mark to him being 18, I'm actually really glad I had him when I was younger. I reminded myself to be presentWhen my son was little, sometimes I did feel like I was missing out. While I know I'm still young, I'm definitely starting to feel my age. If I still want to, I'll be able to take those big trips or pursue careers I wouldn't have been able to while he was young. I cried all night long, and then I just felt really, really angry that I had lost everything. That's partly because I feel like my belongings could go at any point, so I don't trust owning stuff anymore. I find it challenging when people say, " Oh, I really need this." I always say, "Okay, you might want it, but you definitely don't need it." People browse constantly on Instagram or social media and convince themselves that they won't be happy unless they buy certain things.
