SAINT-ETIENNE, Sept 14 (Reuters) - All Blacks loose forward Luke Jacobson is excited to see what he can bring to the party as starting blindside flanker against Namibia on Friday as New Zealand look to get their World Cup campaign back on track in Toulouse. Coach Ian Foster instead elected to bring Tupou Vaa'i, who normally plays lock, off the bench to play blindside and switched Dalton Papali'i to the openside flank in place of Cane. Jacobson did get a decent run off the bench as New Zealand chased the game in the second half but was relishing the chance to be on the pitch from the start this week. Like all of the New Zealand forwards, Jacobson will be desperate to stay on the right side of the referee after the All Blacks were heavily penalised against France. "(But) we know that we need to be winning to win this competition regardless, so I don't think a whole lot changes from now."

Trump and his allies had hoped to use arraignments to get media attention, media reports previously said. The sheriff who oversees the jail system has said Trump's mugshot and fingerprints will be taken for the National Crime Information Center. A presidential historian said in March that if Trump's mugshot is made public, it'll likely cement himself as "folk hero" among his supporters. At the arraignment, Trump and the other defendants will be formally presented with the criminal charges and can enter pleas. Trump is the first former president to face any criminal charges for a first, second, third, or fourth time.

In theory, these higher interest rates push down demand and slow inflation by forcing companies to cut prices to attract stretched-thin customers. And Americans have been spending right through the higher interest rates: Personal consumption expenditures and retail sales numbers have continued to forge upward. But eventually, this attitude will wane as people realize that the higher rates aren't a flash in the pan. The Treasury yield curve measures the different interest rates that are paid out on various bonds issued by the US government. CNN —Tori Penso watched the 2019 Women’s World Cup at home with her eight-month-old daughter in her arms. Four years and countless professional matches later, Penso will proudly walk onto the pitch with Australia and England to referee the semifinal match of the Women’s World Cup at Sydney’s Stadium Australia on Wednesday. Two years after that, Penso was selected by soccer’s world governing boy FIFA as one of six American referees to go to Australia and New Zealand for the 2023 Women’s World Cup. “If you told me six years ago that I would be here talking to you about to head to New Zealand and Australia for the Women’s World Cup I would have said no way,” she said. However, the main characteristic of a patriarchal society is one where men hold more power and authority which subsequently leads to male privilege. As such, a woman's place in a patriarchal society is primarily to be homemakers, procreators or caregivers. Gender inequality -- the unequal treatment of someone based solely on their gender -- is an outcome of patriarchal societies but the terms do not mean the same thing. Despite strides towards sex equality that have been gaining momentum for more than a century, the US remains a patriarchal society. While not evenly accorded to all males, being assigned male at birth in a patriarchal society comes with privileges.

Rising tensions between Washington and President Nayib Bukele's government, dwindling prospects of a financing deal with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the fallout from bitcoin becoming legal tender against a wider difficult macro backdrop had seen El Salvador bonds drop to a quarter of face value last July. "In the summer of 2022, El Salvador bond prices were divorced from fundamentals," said Aaron Stern, managing partner and chief investment officer at Converium Capital in Toronto, who has been holding the country's bonds since last year. "The market was concerned about the administration's willingness to pay," he said, but even now El Salvador offers attractive value when compared to a number of better priced emerging market sovereigns. These were the best performing among sovereign bonds in the first half of the year, with total returns near 60%. "In a year where carry is the main driver of total returns, investors are going to be reticent to take profits too early," said BNP Paribas' Nathalie Marshik, a managing director for Latin America fixed income.

Robert Plunket was living in a trailer park in Englewood, Fla., with his pug, Meatball, when an email interrupted his life of quiet retirement. “I did feel like an obscure has-been,” Plunket said, “because that’s what I was, technically.”Now, Plunket is relishing his new status as a former has-been. This month, the independent publisher New Directions reissued his novel, “My Search for Warren Harding,” a biting comedy about a scholar who goes to extreme, morally questionable lengths to access letters Warren Harding sent to his mistress. What’s even more unusual about Plunket, and his unlikely return, is how stealthily influential his fiction has been over the decades. His admirers include writers like the novelist Ann Beattie and the journalist Frank Rich, comedians like Amy Sedaris and Larry David.

But when the mocking laughter fades, in its place remains a much more lasting anxiety. When I spoke to Potts earlier this week, she said part of her motivation for writing the book was that the conversation about who is struggling in America had been very focused on men. For all the advances we’ve made for girls and women, Potts said, “There are a lot of communities around the country where women are still really expected to take a back seat for men,” and they’re expected to rely on men. There’s also a permissive attitude toward boys that girls don’t benefit from. And after years of struggling, Darci is now sober and doing well, she says. The takeaway is that problems for girls and women in some parts of America are as sticky and complicated as the problems for boys and men: They’re cultural, they’re economic, and they’re entrenched.
