COPENHAGEN, Jan 10 (Reuters) - Hackers have disrupted access to the websites of Denmark's central bank and seven private banks in the country this week, according to the central bank and an IT firm that serves the industry. The websites of the central bank and Bankdata, a company that develops IT solutions for the financial industry, were hit by so-called distributed denials of service (DDoS), which direct traffic towards targeted servers in a bid to knock them offline. A spokesperson for the central bank said its website was working normally on Tuesday afternoon and the attack did not impact the bank's other systems or day-to-day operations. Access to the websites of seven private banks was briefly restricted on Tuesday after the DDoS attack on Bankdata, a company spokesperson said. The banks included two of Denmark's largest, Jyske Bank (JYSK.CO) and Sydbank (SYDB.CO), he said.

UK watchdog narrows dividend-stripping investigation

A German court this week sentenced tax lawyer Hanno Berger, alleged to have masterminded one of the country's biggest post-war frauds, to eight years in jail. It is the highest-profile prosecution and longest sentence to date in a series of trials that have also convicted British bankers. Although Britain was not impacted by cum-ex trading, much of the structuring and organising of the scheme took place in London, according to lawyers and authorities, some of whom turned to the country for help unpicking what had happened. It does not have the power to investigate tax fraud, but can investigate civil and criminal market abuse. One warning notice was sent in June 2020 to an unnamed former chief executive, according to a 2021 High Court judgment.
French container line CMA CGM sees the ownership of cargo terminals at U.S. ports as the next step in its bid to extend its shipping business into greater inland logistics. “Port terminals are an essential piece of the supply-chain efficiency, being at the crossroads of sea and land operations,” said Christine Cabau Woehrel, CMA CGM Group’s executive vice president of operations and assets. CMA CGM earned $17.9 billion in net profits in 2021 and its earnings in the first three quarters of this year reached more than $20.4 billion. The purchases come as CMA CGM is spending billions to buy logistics operations and more recently launch an airfreight service. China’s Cosco Shipping Ports has expanded its terminal operations around the world in concert with expansion by state-owned Cosco Shipping Lines.
Adidas scoops up CEO who turned around rival Puma
  + stars: | 2022-11-08 | by ( Hanna Ziady | ) edition.cnn.com   time to read: +3 min
London CNN Business —Adidas has appointed the head of Puma to succeed outgoing CEO Kasper Rorsted, betting on his ability to replicate its crosstown rival’s comeback. Norwegian Bjørn Gulden, 57, will become CEO of Adidas (ADDDF) on January 1, 2023, the German sportswear brand said in a statement on Tuesday. “As CEO of Puma, he re-invigorated the brand and led the company to record results,” Rabe added. Gulden takes over amid a deepening slump in Adidas’ home market of Germany and as inflation begins to weigh heavily on consumer spending globally. Chief financial officer Harm Ohlmeyer will lead Adidas until Gulden takes over.
Supply-chain technology provider project44 has postponed plans for a possible public stock offering amid the uncertainty in markets, and instead is turning to more venture-capital investment to expand its business tracking goods through global transportation networks. Funding for supply-chain technology startups has also tapered off this year, according to analytics firm PitchBook Data Inc., as venture-capital firms have reined in deal making. Mr. McCandless said project44 can continue to expand without going to public markets over the next couple of years based on its existing investment and cash flow. PREVIEWMr. McCandless said project44 was in position to file paperwork in June for a future public stock offering. A public offering, he said, would allow more venture-capital and private-equity investors to cash out in public markets while letting the company have continuing access to capital.

Welcome to life on Tour as the identical Højgaard twins, the 21-year-old rising stars of Danish golf. Richard Heathcote / Getty ImagesDays later, congratulations once again poured in for Nicolai, but this time there was no case of mistaken identity. Playing via a last-minute invite to the event, a one-stroke triumph at Marco Simone Golf Club secured him his maiden European Tour win and wrote the Højgaard name into the history books as the first brothers to win back-to-back Tour events. Nicolai celebrated his first Tour win at the Italian Open. “That would be a cool experience to share with Nicolai as well, maybe play a foursome together.”
