Four men accused of staging the Russia concert hall attack that killed more than 130 people appeared before a Moscow court Sunday showing signs of severe beatings as they faced formal terrorism charges. There had been earlier conflicting reports in Russian media outlets that said three or all four men admitted culpability. Russian media said Saturday that one of the suspects had his ear cut off during interrogation. A steady stream of people added to a makeshift memorial near the burned-out concert hall, creating a huge mound of flowers. Igor Pogadaev was desperately seeking any details about his wife, Yana Pogadaeva, who went to the attack concert.

The Bahamas has more than 700 islands and cays; remote workers and students can live on 16 of them, including Eleuthera (shown here). "I hear she's staying right up the street," a woman sitting alone at the bar told us. With a population of only 1,800, Harbour Island and its one and only town, Dunmore Town, makes Saint Barts (population 11,000) look like midtown Manhattan. The woman herself, she explained, had moved to Eleuthera, a 10-minute water taxi ride away, where the hoi polloi rarely come, apparently. All of which begs the question: Why on earth would anyone, let alone Taylor Swift and a bunch of billionaires, come to this tiny speck?

MOSCOW (AP) — A Russian Soyuz rocket carrying three astronauts to the International Space Station blasted off Saturday, two days after its launch was aborted at the last minute. The spacecraft carrying NASA astronaut Tracy Dyson, Russian Oleg Novitsky and Marina Vasilevskaya of Belarus launched smoothly from the Russian-leased Baikonur launch facility in Kazakhstan. The head of the Russian space agency, Yuri Borisov, said the launch abort was triggered by a voltage drop in a power source. The space capsule atop the rocket separated and went into orbit eight minutes after the launch and began a two-day, 34-orbit trip to the space station. Russia has continued to rely on modified versions of Soviet-designed rockets for commercial satellites, as well as crews and cargo to the space station.

And while surveys indicate that there are plenty of people in just such a situation, there are some inexpensive and safe ways to access emergency funds. putting it on a credit card but paying that bill in full when it comes due). An earlier survey by Bankrate, meanwhile, found that two-thirds of US adults worried they don’t have enough emergency savings to cover them if they lost their primary source of income. Her bills were piling up and she had already accrued high credit card balances from her years in school. To make the next emergency expense less stressful and costly, you can build emergency savings with small amounts consistently over time.

Edwin Tong, Singapore's culture minister, told local outlet Mothership on February 28 that the amount of grant given "is not what is being speculated online." As Tong, the Singapore culture minister, told Mothership, the city-state is looking "beyond just the economic impact" of Swiftonimics. Economists estimate that Swift's concerts in Singapore could contribute up to 500 million Singapore dollars, or $372 million, in tourist receipts. AdvertisementIt's a different story for spending on experiences — and it's heightened because Singapore is Swift's only stop in Southeast Asia. For Olga Pericet, flamenco is an invitation: to play and to explore the limits of her imagination onstage. Pericet, who comes from a family of flamenco dancers and teachers, has a deep respect for the traditions of the form. Over the years the Flamenco Festival, which arrives in New York each spring, has offered a window on its evolution. This year the festival has three dance programs at City Center, beginning March 8, each invoking a range of associations: to past dance forms, to flamenco auteurs, and to the central role of the flamenco guitar. Pericet’s “La Leona,” takes its inspiration from a 19th-century guitar prototype that produced the rich, resonant sound we now associate with flamenco music.

The problem with writing a play about absence: How to fill the void? When a performance artist known as Miriam (Cynthia Nixon) vanishes in “The Seven Year Disappear,” a two-hander by Jordan Seavey that opened Monday at the Signature Center, we know only that she is a narcissist who steals the air from any room she enters. “The Whitney is mine,” she exclaims in the opening scene, after her adult son and manager, Naphtali (Taylor Trensch), informs her that the museum has made some sort of offer to Marina Abramovic. After seven years off the map, when Miriam returns, she has the gall to ask Naphtali whether he will help turn his abandonment into her next piece. Scenes following Miriam’s reappearance, which occurs on the heels of the 2016 election, are intercut with a reverse chronology of Naphtali’s search for her, which is really a quest to find himself — in a change of careers, a series of sexual liaisons and a lot of hard drugs.

I've sailed on both a Royal Caribbean and a Virgin Voyages cruise ship. The Virgin Voyages cruise cost $4,000 more, as it was a luxury, adults-only ship in a higher-tier cabin. The Virgin Voyages cruise was more worth the price, but the Royal Caribbean ship was great for families. Royal Caribbean and Virgin Voyages offer completely different experiences. The seven-night Caribbean cruise took me to Roatán, Honduras; Cozumel and Costa Maya, Mexico; and Royal Caribbean's private island in the Bahamas.

The search was called off at 8 p.m. Monday, “pending any new information,” the agency said in a statement. The seas were not “too rough” when the group of experienced fishermen set out, but a heavy fog descended that could have been “a factor” in their disappearance, police Capt. “Going into overnight and into Sunday, the wind’s picked up, the seas picked up and of course it’s been raining most of that time,” Leisenring said. A vehicle and boat trailer were still parked at the Marina Park Boat Ramp, from where the group set off, police said.

Halfway through Jean Butler’s “What We Hold,” the audience is invited to sit at a long table surrounded by 50 chairs, as if at a wedding banquet. As the audience settles in, voices begin to float through the room, like snatches of lost conversations. A transformation happens: They are not just dancers but Irish dancers. “That’s the very first thing we learned as kids, that posture,” Butler said after a rehearsal. It is something all Irish dancers hold in their bodies, like first position in ballet.
