India arrived at the Wankhede Stadium, where they lifted their second and last World Cup trophy in 2011, looking invincible, winning all nine round-robin matches without any stiff challenge, including a four-wicket win over New Zealand. India had also exited the 2015 edition of the 50-over World Cup at the semi-final stage with a defeat to Australia. "Today being the semi-finals, I wouldn't say that there was no pressure," India captain Rohit Sharma told host broadcaster Star Sports, adding that the team wanted to treat the match as just another round-robin game. "Whenever you play the game, there is always pressure, and obviously, semi-final adds a bit of extra there. Sharma will be hoping that his team leave the mistakes behind as they head Ahmedabad for Sunday's final where they will meet either Australia or South Africa.

Skipper Williamson had no complaints about how the Blacks Caps were manhandled out of the semi-finals by India on Wednesday, possibly bringing to an end his hopes of ever raising the oldest limited-overs World Cup trophy. The batting great, who has played in four World Cup semi-finals and two finals, will be 37 when southern Africa hosts the quadrennial 50-overs showpiece in 2027, while strike bowlers Tim Southee and Trent Boult will be 38. "You can only hope that, as we experienced from some of our leaders as young guys, that we can continue to bring players through. "I love being part of this group and we've got a number of world class players who love being in that changeroom and love playing for New Zealand. The venue, where India won their last 50-overs World Cup title, has hosted four day-night contests so far at this tournament with three of those being won by the team batting first. Australia were the only team to win batting second at the ground after Glenn Maxwell hit an unbeaten double hundred. MUMBAI, Nov 15 (Reuters) - New Zealand captain Kane Williamson on Wednesday heaped praise on India after losing the World Cup semi-final at the Wankhede Stadium, saying the unbeaten hosts were simply the best side around and were playing outstanding cricket. Williamson was proud of his team's fight during the chase but had no qualms in giving credit to India, who have won all their 10 matches in the tournament. "India are playing seriously good cricket, they're a class side at the top of their game and to come out in a semi-final and continue and repeat what they've been doing throughout this competition shows where they're at as a team," Williamson told reporters. "They're the best team in the world and they're all playing their best cricket, so that's tough. PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Joel Embiid envisioned winning an NBA championship with James Harden at his side. The 76ers traded Harden this week to the Clippers for a package of players and draft picks, ending the promise of two NBA MVPs chasing a championship in Philly. As it is, the 76ers are 3-1 with Embiid putting up numbers like a player intent on defending his MVP crown. While Nurse publicly said all the right things ahead of the trade about welcoming Harden back, he admitted Thursday that he never truly believed he would coach Harden. “I think he did a lot of great things for us,” Embiid said.

It’s not often that the standout star of a show is its music supervisor, arranger or orchestrator, but in the gala presentation of “Pal Joey” at New York City Center through Sunday, all three are one man, Daryl Waters. That the rest of the revival (really a new creature, made from spare parts) is more suggestive than convincing is no crime; there has never been a satisfactory “Pal Joey.” Though the 1940 original featured some soon-to-be standards by Rodgers and Hart — “Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered” chief among them — its book by John O’Hara, based on his epistolary novel and New Yorker stories, didn’t match them in tone or dramatic serviceability. Back then, the problem was thought to be the nature of Joey himself, a greasy heel trying to scheme his way from itinerant crooner to supper club smoothie. Along the way he picked up and discarded an innocent named Linda English, traded sex for financial support with a socialite named Vera Simpson and generally ruined everything he touched with his grifty hands. The problem faced by the various would-be saviors of “Pal Joey” — there were Broadway revivals in 1952, 1963, 1976 and 2008 — is rather what new throughline to impose and how to make the best use of its songs.

REUTERS/Brian Snyder/File Photo Acquire Licensing RightsNov 1 (Reuters) - China and the United States will discuss nuclear arms control next week, the first such talks since the Obama administration, the Wall Street Journal reported on Wednesday. Those arms talks would be led on Monday by Mallory Stewart, a senior State Department official, and Sun Xiaobo, the head of the arms-control department at China's Foreign Ministry, the Wall Street Journal report said. Since then, U.S. officials had expressed frustration that China showed little interest in discussing steps to reduce nuclear weapons risks. Daryl Kimball, executive director of the Washington-based Arms Control Association, said the overdue arms talks would likely focus on promoting greater transparency of each countries' nuclear doctrines and more effective crisis-communication channels.

Whoever takes the floor for the Clippers will attempt to restore the team's history of success against the Orlando Magic. Now the Magic are looking to beat the Clippers for the fourth time in six meetings when the clubs face off Tuesday night in Los Angeles. PHILADELPHIA (AP) — James Harden got his trade to the Clippers. The 34-year-old Harden vowed he would never play for a franchise run by 76ers team president Daryl Morey and the disgruntled guard had yet to play for the team this season. Harden had picked up his $35.6 million contract option in June with the belief the team would trade him. The lone time he spoke at practice, Harden said that his fractured relationship with Morey could not be repaired — comparing it to a broken marriage. Needing 19 runs off Mitchell Starc's final over, New Zealand milked 13 runs off the first four legitimate deliveries to keep the heat on Australia. "That was awesome," Australia captain Pat Cummins said after their fourth win in six matches. Glenn Phillips broke the burgeoning stand by taking a return catch to dismiss Warner, but Head raced to a 59-ball century. New Zealand were uncharacteristically sloppy in the field, dropping five catches, with Head the beneficiary on two occasions. That left Ferguson with the job of hitting the final delivery for six, but he drilled it straight to the cover fielder instead.

MILWAUKEE (AP) — Damian Lillard acknowledged this season opener felt a little different from the others as he adjusted to switching teams for the first time. Lillard scored 39 points and the Milwaukee Bucks regrouped after blowing a 19-point lead to beat the Philadelphia 76ers 118-117 on Thursday night. Lillard had the highest point total for a player making his Bucks debut, surpassing the 34 that Terry Cummings scored in 1984. The 76ers scored seven straight points to get the margin down to two, but Lillard answered by sinking another 3-pointer with 1:13 left. "The Bay Area has consistently been one of the most expensive markets in the country," said Daryl Fairweather, chief economist at Redfin. Why the New York metro area is low on the listMidtown Manhattan, New York, as seen from Hoboken, New Jersey. That's because the metro area goes beyond Manhattan and the city's four other boroughs, extending into nearby counties. "Even though Manhattan is really expensive, once you get to the outlying areas [in] the New York metro area, it actually becomes quite affordable," said Fairweather. Interested homebuyers in the region still need to earn six figures annually to afford a home, about $197,734, Redfin estimates.

Despite high prices and mortgage rates, they said homeownership will pay off for many people in the long-run. Many Americans have been left wondering when — if ever — the time will be right for them to enter the housing market. "Many homeowners first bought their home when interest rates were high — the 50-year average rate on a mortgage is 7.8%," he said. Even if cuts to interest rates cause mortgage rates to fall, they're unlikely to return to the near-zero levels they were in 2022. If and when mortgage rates fall, Yun said that some homeowners who have been eager to move — but have been reluctant to give up their low interest rates — will likely decide to sell.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — James Harden vowed he would never play for a franchise run by 76ers team president Daryl Morey. Coach Nick Nurse, in his first season after five years with Toronto, is preparing for games without Harden. Harden even declined in June 2022 his $47.4 million option, saying he wanted to give the 76ers flexibility to improve their roster and compete for a championship. He signed a deal worth slightly over $68 million, paying him about $33 million last season with a $35 million player option for this season. The player known as The Beard instead picked up his $35.6 million option with the 76ers for this season, with the desire to force a trade.
