According to a May Zumper report, the national median rent for a one-bedroom apartment is $1,487. The New York-Newark-Jersey City metro area saw the average rent for a one-bedroom apartment go from $1,991 in 2023 to $2,008 in 2024, an increase of only $17 or 0.9%. Lone Pine Capital made new bets on some high-performing power producers and one big streaming company in the first quarter, a new Securities and Exchange Commission filing shows. Lone Pine, founded by Stephen Mandel in 1997, added a $446.7 million position in Vistra Corp. and a $161.9 million stake in Constellation Energy in the first quarter. Lone Pine also added new positions in drug and medical supplies distributor McKesson and mobile tech company AppLovin , worth about $368 million and $300 million, respectively. The new additions came as Lone Pine significantly cut its holdings in three big tech companies: Meta Platforms, Taiwan Semiconductor and Amazon . Microsoft is Lone Pine's third-largest position, trailing Taiwan Semiconductor, which Lone Pine reduced by 11%.

The company's goal is to add 10,000 bidirectional EV school buses across the U.S. with 300 gigawatt hours of energy available to power grids each year. In effect, instead of the one-way charge into the vehicle, the school buses will be able to send their battery power back to the grid through Zum charging infrastructure. The roughly 500,000 school buses are mostly diesel, contributing to emissions. Ram Ambatipudi, senior vice president of business development at EV Connect, which provides EV charging solutions, said the school bus model is one of the most promising in the area of using EV battery storage in a bidirectional nature. "The low-hanging fruit from what I've seen is the school bus model," Ambatipudi said.
