  + stars: | 2022-10-19 | by ( ) www.reuters.com   time to read: +2 min
Mandatory Credit: Brad Penner-USA TODAY SportsOctober 19 - New York Yankees left fielder Aaron Hicks will miss the remainder of the postseason due to a left knee injury. Cabrera's left arm sent Hicks tumbling face-first into foul territory and Hicks was lifted after walking gingerly in the outfield. Hicks was replaced by Marwin Gonzalez in left field. Hicks was in the starting lineup for the second straight game when the Yankees shifted Cabrera from left to shortstop to replace a struggling Kiner-Falefa. The Yankees defeated Cleveland 5-1 on Tuesday and will face the Houston Astros in the AL Championship Series.
BRISTOL, Conn. — A Connecticut police officer who was wounded in an apparent ambush that killed two of his fellow officers fired the shot that killed the attacker, police said. Nathan Brutcher hasn’t been accused of playing any role in the attack. Nicholas Brutcher was a divorced father of two and a gun, hunting and fishing enthusiast, according to his social media pages. In a photo posted on both brothers’ Facebook pages in 2016, Nicholas Brutcher is pointing a handgun at the camera while others, including Nathan Brutcher, are holding rifles. Other photos show Nicholas Brutcher with a 10-point deer he shot and with fish he caught.
Aaron Judge #99 of the New York Yankees hits a solo home run in the fifth inning against the Cleveland Guardians at Yankee Stadium on April 22, 2022 in the Bronx borough of New York City. New York Yankees slugger Aaron Judge belted his 61st home run of the season in Toronto on Wednesday night, tying the American League record set by fellow pinstripe great Roger Maris. The historic home run ball was picked up by Blue Jays bullpen coach Matt Buschmann, who gave it to the Yankees. Now Maris' name is linked to baseball's well-liked 2021 home run leader, Judge, 30, a native of Linden, California. Judge has been an elite home run hitter from his first full season in the Bronx, when he hit 52 homers in 2017.
Aaron Judge of the New York Yankees hit his 60th home run of the season Tuesday during the game against the Pittsburgh Pirates at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, N.Y.New York Yankees slugger Aaron Judge is chasing his 61st home run of the season, but fans won’t be able to watch the potentially historic game on broadcast television. Instead of airing on the Yankees’ YES Network or ESPN, the team’s Friday night matchup with the Boston Red Sox is airing on Apple TV+. The game is part of the streaming service’s new “Friday Night Baseball” program that began this season.
Sep 22, 2022; Bronx, New York, USA; New York Yankees right fielder Aaron Judge (99) strikes out during the fifth inning against the Boston Red Sox at Yankee Stadium. As it stands, the only way to watch the broadcast of the game against the visiting Boston Red Sox is on streaming service Apple TV+. "History is in the making as Aaron Judge electrifies Yankees fans, and everyone who loves baseball," James said in a release. Register now for FREE unlimited access to Reuters.com Register"To deny millions of New Yorkers, and fans around the nation, the opportunity to watch as Aaron Judge steps up to the plate, is wrong and unfair," she said. "That is why I am calling on Apple and the MLB to reach a fair accommodation with the YES Network so that fans can watch what we all hope will be history made this evening."
Users don't need to pay the $5 per month fee for Apple TV+ to get baseball. Apple said earlier this year that baseball games were free "for a limited time" but has yet to start charging. Nor do users need an Apple device to watch: In a break from its historical preferences, has made Apple TV+ apps for several non-Apple platforms, including Roku, Amazon's Fire TV, Google TV, and game consoles, allowing its broadcasts to reach a wider market. Apple enlisted comedian Jon Stewart, who has a show on Apple TV+, to inform viewers that there is no paywall on Friday. He joked that he pushed an Apple executive, "Mr. App," to make the game free.
Sep 21, 2022; Bronx, New York, USA; New York Yankees right fielder Aaron Judge (99) hits a ground rule double against the Pittsburgh Pirates during the fifth inning at Yankee Stadium. So for the first time in a long while it appears all the stars are, for now, aligning in MLB's favor thanks to Judge and his mighty swing. "There's no real controversy around him, he's a matinee idol, good looking, great personality, liked around the league." Judge will get his next chance to draw level with Maris later on Thursday when New York open a four-game homestand against the Boston Red Sox. "It you remember those ads when McGwire and Sosa were battling it out - 'Chicks dig the long ball', well Major League Baseball executives dig the long ball too," said Dorfman.

Harry Belafonte’s New York was a lot like yours and mine. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in a Harlem church basement through Adam Clayton Powell Jr., and met W. E. B. Mr. Belafonte could tell you a thing or two about New York. He has been the best-selling singer in America and a pillar in the civil rights movement. Takes a lot of courage and a lot of power to step into the space and lead a holy war.”
