REUTERS/Fabrizio Bensch/File Photo Acquire Licensing RightsNEW YORK, Oct 10 (Reuters) - German premium footwear maker Birkenstock Holding (BIRK.N) priced its U.S. initial public offering (IPO) at the middle of its indicated price range at $46 per share, the company said on Tuesday. While shares of Arm and Klaviyo still trade above their IPO price, Instacart's stock is now worth less than its IPO value. Birkenstock was founded in 1774 in the German village of Langen-Bergheim by Johannes Birkenstock and his younger brother Johann Adam Birkenstock, who were both shoemakers. After the IPO, L Catterton will hold an 82.8% stake in Birkenstock and control a majority of the combined voting power of its outstanding shares. Birkenstock's shares will start trading on Wednesday on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker "BIRK".

Birkenstock, the German premium footwear brand backed by private-equity firm L Catterton, said on Monday it is seeking a valuation of up to $9.2 billion in its highly anticipated initial public offering (IPO) in New York. The U.S. securities regulator is well-staffed now that a government shutdown has been averted, allowing it to review IPO filings by companies looking to take advantage of the long-awaited reopening of the IPO window. On its website, the company says all elements of its design - the buckles, the straps, the sole and the footbed - have a "functional purpose". Most of its products are manufactured in facilities in Rhineland-Palatinate, North Rhine-Westphalia, Hesse and Saxony in Germany. Goldman Sachs, J.P. Morgan and Morgan Stanley are among the underwriters for the IPO.

With short sellers looking to profit from the stock, it closed at $55.17 after touching a high of $69 on Friday. Arm shares underperformed the Philadelphia semiconductor index (.SOX), which closed down 0.96% on Tuesday as rising bond yields weighed on growth sectors such as technology. Short sellers need to borrow a stock to short it, and the relationship between shares on loan and shorted is normally quite close, according to Ortex. By comparison, Tesla (TSLA.O), a stock with a similar percentage of shorted shares, has a cost to borrow at 0.48%, Ortex said. Arm's higher cost to borrow "can be an indication that the demand to borrow, and short, the stock is high," Hillerberg said.

The IPO gave Instacart a valuation of nearly $9.9 billion, a fraction of the $39 billion it was worth in 2021, the company's last funding round. Reuters GraphicsSeveral startups' valuations have shrunk since 2022 as inflation, geopolitical tensions and the Federal Reserve's rapid rate hikes soured the economic climate. But a lukewarm reception to Neumora Therapeutics' (NMRA.O) IPO last week hinted at limited investor enthusiasm for new listings. The price hike signals robust investor demand for San Francisco-based Instacart, which is looking to finally list its shares this month after years of waiting in the wings. Investors will be pinning hopes on robust debuts from Instacart, Klaviyo and Neumora to carry the momentum in the IPO market after Arm's strong showing on Thursday. Instacart said it is now seeking to sell 22 million shares at $28 to $30 each. At the top end of the range, the IPO will fetch $660 million compared with the earlier target of $616 million. The company's raised valuation target, however, would still be just one-fourth of the $39 billion it was worth after its last funding round more than two years ago.

NEW YORK (AP) — Shares of U.K. chip designer Arm Holdings rose 10% in their stock market debut, in what is the largest initial public offering of shares in nearly two years. Arm's offering is an important development for the IPO market, which has seen relatively few companies go public the past two years. Nearly 400 companies went public in 2021 as the stock market rallied for a third straight year, according to IPO tracker Renaissance Capital. Arm was previously a public company from 1998 to 2016. Goldman is one of the lead underwriters for the Arm IPO, as well as an offering from grocery delivery service Instacart, expected next week.

Hopes of a revival in the IPO market largely depend on the success of the high-profile listings of Arm and other marquee startups, including grocery delivery firm Instacart and marketing firm Klaviyo. Arm also told investors its royalty fees, which account for most of its revenue, were accumulating since it started collecting them in the early 1990s. Sept 11 (Reuters) - Klaviyo is seeking a fully-diluted valuation of up to $8.4 billion in its initial public offering (IPO) in the United States, the marketing firm said on Monday, as it becomes the latest company to tap a growing wave of stock market listings. However, the company's proposed valuation is a climb-down from the $9.15 billion pre-money valuation at which Klaviyo last raised capital in 2021, reflecting a broader gloom in the technology startup ecosystem. Founded in 2012, Klaviyo helps store and analyze data for e-commerce brands that enables them to send out personalized marketing emails and messages to potential customers. Klaviyo posted 51% growth in revenue to $164.6 million for the three months ended June 30. The company is expected to debut in September, a busy month for stock market listings that could serve as a litmus test for other companies looking to go public.

As the Federal Reserve raised borrowing costs to tame inflation, several high-flying startups have had to raise funds at lower valuations. The yen surged 1% against the dollar, knocking the U.S. currency back more generally (.DXY) on the foreign exchange markets. If Japan's does tighten further by yearend, it comes as the Federal Reserve and European Central Bank rate hike campaigns are coming to halt.
