In 2016, I was a very broke writer living in New York, mostly stitching together a living through side hustles. When I reached out to RSR about forthcoming work, they told me they were working with Manhattan-based storage space company Manhattan Mini Storage on a series of billboards. They wanted quippy slogans connecting outer space and storage space. The turnaround time was so quick and I needed to keep making money — ideally more than $45 at a time. At that point, I had picked up a summer babysitting gig and was walking toward the subway on Manhattan's West Side Highway when I noticed a billboard from Manhattan Mini Storage.

The year’s most expensive sale in New York City took place in August at 220 Central Park South in Midtown, where an expansive duplex in the villa portion of the park-facing condo complex closed at $80 million. It sold for $30 million, far less than the $110 million initially sought by the developers six years ago. The buyer was Scott Lynn, an art collector and the founder and chief executive of Masterworks, an art investment platform. The crown penthouse at the new 20-story condo at 109 East 79th Street also sold, for $35 million, which was the month’s second biggest sale. Both men say they hope to pull the company back from the brink and continue without Mr. Chapski, whom they hired as a financial adviser in 2011 and made a partner in 2016. The founders continued to develop new products and marketing efforts, but Mr. Chapski effectively ran the business. Mr. Quint is seeking at least $4 million, claiming damages arising from breach of contract, fiduciary irresponsibility and “willful misconduct” by Mr. Chapski. Mr. Quint said in an interview that Mr. Chapski has maintained his lifestyle even as the company has descended into debt. ANKARA, Aug 22 (Reuters) - Maritime traffic from the Aegean Sea to the Sea of Marmara has been suspended due to the ongoing forest fire in the Turkish northwestern province of Canakkale, the transport ministry and a shipping agency said on Tuesday. "The traffic at Dardanelles was suspended for both directions on Tuesday at 18:45 (1545 GMT) hours due to the aircraft intervening in the forest fire in the region by safely taking water from the sea," Tribeca shipping agency said. The Dardanelles Strait, a narrow and historically significant passage connecting the Aegean Sea to the Black Sea, serves as a vital shipping route for vessels travelling between Europe and Asia. "Tugboats are prepared to intervene if the fire approaches the seafront, providing additional support to the ongoing firefighting operations," the Transport Ministry said in a statement. Why Are Dave Matthews Band Fans So Loyal?

On an afternoon in June while wildfire smoke enveloped Manhattan, people lined up outside Irving Plaza — some before dawn, some sporting face masks, some fresh off red-eye flights — to see Dave Matthews. That night, the 56-year-old balladeer was playing a rare solo gig celebrating his namesake band’s new album, “Walk Around the Moon.”Josh Roberts, 42, a special-education teacher in Las Vegas, who has seen the Dave Matthews Band, or DMB, 523 times, stood in that line. Mr. Roberts estimates that he has spent $100,000 on tickets and travel since discovering the band as a struggling high school junior in 1995. “This band has songs about love, depression, sex, things that you connect to,” he said. Mr. Matthews is the first to admit he doesn’t always get it right.

Top of New York City crane crashes into street, injuring six

NEW YORK, July 26 (Reuters) - Six people were injured in New York on Wednesday when the top portion of a construction crane caught fire and crashed into a Manhattan street during the morning rush hour, authorities said. [1/7]Members of the Fire Department of the City of New York (FDNY) and others gather after a construction crane caught fire on a high-rise building in Manhattan, New York City, U.S., July 26, 2023. "As you see from the debris on the street, this could have been much worse," New York City Mayor Eric Adams said during a press conference at the scene. In recent years, New York City has adopted more stringent safety measures for the towering cranes used to erect the massive buildings that define the skyline of the country's most populous city. More recently, a crane collapsed in lower Manhattan's Tribeca neighborhood in 2016, killing a pedestrian, injuring three others and crushing cars parked on the street.

P&G Studios head Kimberly Doebereiner argues that great entertainment can come from brands. Procter & Gamble is at the forefront of the growing brand film space — with its own in-house shingle, P&G Studios, actively pursuing entertainment projects that look nothing like ads. "The first thing I'd love is for the distributors to see that great content can come from anybody, and even if it's from a brand, that doesn't mean it's brand content," she told Insider in an interview. "We have great marketing, we have great brands, we can help bring in viewers, right? "We'd love to have our content be able to show up in the retailer with our brands and create better awareness for that content," Doebereiner said.

But the entry of Mr. Ruffalo and a number of celebrities — the actor Wendell Pierce, the comedian Amy Schumer, the rapper Common and more — into the fight over the church, more than two decades after it first began, has added an unusual twist to a common city conflict. Mr. Ruffalo even cornered Mayor Eric Adams at the Tribeca Film Festival this month to plead his case. All sides agree about the storied history of the church and its architectural significance. But around the same time, the church became a flashpoint in the city’s real estate battles.
