CNN —New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers will miss the rest of the 2023 NFL season after suffering a complete tear of his left Achilles tendon, according to multiple sources. CNN —Pro Football Hall of Famer Gil Brandt, widely regarded as the architect who helped build the Dallas Cowboys into one of the most successful and popular sports franchises of all time, died on Thursday, according to the Cowboys. After a six-decade NFL executive career – 29 years with the Cowboys – Brandt was inducted into the Hall in 2019. As the vice president of player personnel for the Cowboys, Brandt was lauded for his acute ability to recognize player talent – having drafted nine Cowboys players who, like Brandt, are Pro Football Hall of Famers. Brandt is also credited in helping build the annual player draft into a three-day, made-for-TV event. Former Kansas City Chiefs assistant coach Britt Reid was sentenced Tuesday to three years in prison for a drunken driving crash that seriously injured a young girl. Reid, 37, who is the son of head coach Andy Reid, crashed his truck into two stopped vehicles near Arrowhead Stadium on Feb. 4, 2021, according to police. The crash left Ariel Young, who was 5 at the time, with a traumatic brain injury. Reid, who was the outside linebackers coach, was placed on leave after the crash, and then his contract expired.
