Prosecutors, with several never-before-seen images and a 30-page filing, detailed the search process and ridiculed Trump’s legal arguments. A photo of a box taken by a filter agent during the August 2022 search of Mar-a-Lago. The prosecutors highlighted how investigators found boxes with their contents spilled on the floor, which they also illustrated with photos taken by investigators and by one of Trump’s co-defendants. “Against this backdrop of the haphazard manner in which Trump chose to maintain his boxes” Trump argues that the precise order of the contents “was critical to his defense,” prosecutors said, ridiculing the argument. To bolster their arguments, the prosecutors attached several new photos of the boxes, some of which were taken during the search.

He was among the more than 1,300 pilgrims who died during this year’s Hajj as temperatures in Saudi Arabia reached record levels. The tragedy, resulting in one of the highest Hajj death tolls in years, has brought attention to the shadowy industry of unauthorized pilgrimage agents. It is unclear how many unauthorized pilgrims made it to this year’s Hajj, but Saudi news outlet Al Sharq Al Awsat reported Tuesday that 141,000 such pilgrims received free medical treatment during the Hajj season. Clamping down on unauthorized pilgrimageBefore this year’s Hajj season started, Saudi authorities warned pilgrims against using agents selling unauthorized Hajj packages and had been in contact with other governments in an effort to crack down on the trend. Authorities had also arrested some illegal agents and issued warnings about penalties for those found to assist unauthorized pilgrims.

MU YTD mountain Micron shares this year Nvidia's seemingly limitless rally stalled in recent sessions as investors took a break from semiconductor stocks. While it isn't a given that CEO Jensen Huang shows up at Nvidia's meeting, any commentary could provide an impetus for the stocks. Meeks noted that recent comments from Huang about AI chips during a trip to Asia spurred a bounce in shares. Comments could boost sentiment and convince investors the chip behemoth has yet to reach peak revenue, he added. Meeks called the selloff in chip stocks overdone, viewing a long-term runway for the AI theme at a reasonable valuation.

Now is the time to make a change if I'm going to do it again. I ended up landing this job at a mostly Haitian-American school, and I decided, "If I'm going to explore this, I'm going to do it now and give it a shot." I've been a couple of times and it's crazy to see how gas is an entire dollar more at the beach than it is in Miami — so I just won't get gas in Miami Beach. Just in case I don't stay in Florida forever, I'm going to go to the beach as much as I can.

Photographs and news agency reports showed protesters clashing in the streets of Kenyan capital Nairobi on Tuesday, as the African state passed a controversial finance bill set to raise national taxes. Kenya's Human Rights Commission on Tuesday shared a video of officers shooting at protesters, calling for accountability. At least 50 people were injured by gunfire during the latest demonstrations, Reuters reported, citing a local paramedic outside of the parliament. The news agency further said sections of the parliament building were set on fire, as the compound was stormed. Blood has already been shed in similar protests, after two people died in separate demonstrations held last week, the Associated Press reported.

Differences like these lead researchers like me to wonder what factors influence the telling of lies. Figuring out the frequency of liesMost research on lying asks participants to self-report their lying behavior, say during the past day or week. This result became the benchmark finding in the field of honesty research and helped lead to an assumption among many researchers that lying is commonplace. It could be that each person in the group tells one or two lies per day. Many lies occur in the heat of the moment, so it makes sense that when there’s a delay in communication, as with email, lying would decrease.

The latest research on the prevalence of aspirin use to prevent cardiovascular disease suggests that in 2021, nearly a third of adults 60 or older without cardiovascular disease were still using aspirin. Among adults 60 or older, nearly 30% reported taking aspirin to prevent cardiovascular disease, and around 5% of all adults 60 or older reported using aspirin without medical advice. Among those regularly taking aspirin, 89% reported taking a low-dose aspirin, according to the survey, while 11% indicated they take regular strength aspirin, which makes their risk of excessive bleeding even higher. The other alarming aspect is that many individuals are taking aspirin without the guidance of a healthcare provider,” Montgomery said. Regardless, any patient taking aspirin regularly should discuss that behavior with their physician, Weintraub said.

Gen Zers, it turns out, are "not on a linear journey to evaluate the veracity of anything." In other words, Gen Zers know the difference between rock-solid news and AI-generated memes. For Gen Z, checking what other people are saying in the comments isn't shallow. The aim is to reach Gen Z readers where they live — scrolling through the comments — and turn them into subscribers. But I'll confess that I worried about the idea that Gen Z checks the comments to decide what to believe.

A team of international academics successfully sequenced the genomes of each of the eight baobab species, examining their relationship with one another and concluded that they originated in Madagascar. "Avenue of the Baobabs" in Western Madagascar is one of the most spectacular collections of the unusual trees. Gavinevans/Creative CommonsOnly one baobab species is not included in the IUCN’s Red List of Threatened Species: A. digitata, which populates mainland Africa. The likelihood of finding fossil evidence to rubberstamp the conclusions of the genetic data is slim, Dr. Wan conceded. So perhaps these majestic trees may retain some of their mystery after all.

More than 1,300 people died during this year's Hajj pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia as the faithful faced extreme high temperatures at Islamic holy sites in the desert kingdom, Saudi authorities announced Sunday. All but 31 of them were unauthorized pilgrims, according to two officials in Cairo. Egypt has revoked the licenses of 16 travel agencies that helped unauthorized pilgrims travel to Saudi Arabia, authorities said. Those agencies left pilgrims in limbo in Mecca and the holy sites in scorching heat, the newspaper said. AP journalists saw pilgrims fainting from the scorching heat, especially on the second and third days of the Hajj.

In the decades that Roe v. Wade was the law of the land, abortion rights groups tried to shore up support for it by declaring “Abortion Is Health Care.”Only now, two years after the Supreme Court eliminated the constitutional right to abortion, and just six months before the presidential election, has the slogan taken on the force of reality. The public conversation about abortion has grown into one about the complexities of pregnancy and reproduction, as the consequences of bans have played out in the news. The question is no longer just whether you can get an abortion, but also, Can you get one if pregnancy complications put you in septic shock? That shift helps explain why a record percentage of Americans are now declaring themselves single-issue voters on abortion rights — especially among Black voters, Democrats, women and those ages 18 to 29. Republican women are increasingly saying their party’s opposition to abortion is too extreme, and Democrats are running on the issue after years of running away from it.

CNN —Iranian dissident rapper Toomaj Salehi had his death sentence overturned by the Iranian Supreme Court this week in what his lawyers have deemed a victory for human rights in Iran. After being briefly released from prison in 2023, Salehi was re-arrested for “making false claims and spreading lies,” according to Iranian judiciary news agency Mizan. On Saturday, his lawyer Amir Raesian broke the news of the reversal in a post on X, saying that the Iranian Supreme Court had “avoided irreparable judicial error” and overturned Salehi’s death sentence this week. The Supreme Court found that the death sentence delivered to Salehi was excessive and failed to comply with Iranian law,” the group said in a statement Saturday. London-based human rights lawyer Caoilfhionn Gallagher who is the international counsel for the Salehi family said it was “not enough” that his life had been “spared” by the Iranian authorities.
