Laura Wasser is a divorce lawyer whose clients have included Johnny Depp and Angelina Jolie. "You'd go to someone's bar mitzvah and say, 'You're Dennis Wasser's daughter,' and they'd say, 'You're at that table,' according to whether my dad had represented the mom or the dad," she said. She'd majored in rhetoric at the University of California, Berkeley, and realized quickly that what she'd loved most about those studies was vital in divorce cases, as was her age and gender. She's a spokesperson for Divorce.com, the do-it-yourself split site, as its chief of divorce evolution and has hosted several podcasts, including "All's Fair with Laura Wasser" and "Divorce Sucks! With Laura Wasser," where one guest was the Kardashian momager and matriarch Kris Jenner.
CANBERRA, Australia — Australia’s former Prime Minister Scott Morrison on Wednesday listed his achievements in government including standing up to a “bullying” China as he unsuccessfully argued against being censured by Parliament for secretly amassing multiple ministerial powers. A censure motion against Morrison, who remains an opposition lawmaker, has no effect other than to tarnish his political legacy. The censure motion said that by failing to inform his Cabinet, Parliament and the Australian people of his additional ministerial powers, Morrison had undermined responsible government and eroded public trust in Australia’s democracy. Morrison’s successor, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, this month held Australia’s first official bilateral meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping since Morrison’s predecessor, Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull, in 2016. In calling for Morrison’s censure, Albanese said the former prime minister had demonstrated hubris, arrogance and denial but no contrition.
Last month, Kroger announced a $25 billion deal to merge with grocery chain Albertsons. During the pandemic last year, local city councils in Long Beach and Seattle passed "hero pay" laws requiring grocery stores to pay their public-facing workers $4 extra per hour. Last month, Kroger announced a $25 billion deal to merge with Albertsons, another major national grocery chain. In the press release announcing the merger, Kroger promised that the consolidation would result in lower prices for customers and better compensation and benefits for workers. But the larger Kroger-Albertsons merger is still on track to conclude in 2024, unless the Biden administration steps in to stop it.
REUTERS/Carlo AllegriOct 26 (Reuters) - Brooks, the running shoe unit of billionaire Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway Inc (BRKa.N), has settled a lawsuit accusing the retailer Brooks Brothers of diluting its reputation and confusing customers by marketing athletic wear with the "Brooks" name, but without "Brothers." It objected last year to Brooks Brothers' launch of "faux" athletic wear, saying it threatened to "demoralize" consumers who associate the Brooks name with high-quality athletic wear, and to Brooks Brothers' "Back to Brooks" marketing campaign. Brooks Brothers countered that the lawsuit was an "ill-conceived ploy" to evade the coexistence agreement, and demanded Brooks' compliance. Founded in 1818, Brooks Brothers is the oldest continually-operating U.S. clothing retailer. The case is Brooks Sports Inc v SPARC Group LLC, U.S. District Court, Western District of Washington, No.
CNN —In Nelson Mandela Bay, in the Eastern Cape of South Africa, thousands of hectares of land could one day become the world’s largest green ammonia plant. But by using renewable energy, “green” ammonia can be manufactured, slashing the carbon footprint of agricultural production and opening up the compound to further uses. ‘A completely green process’The process to make green ammonia is quite simple, Loubser says, requiring just water, air and energy. But green ammonia could also be burned in existing coal-fired power plants to quickly reduce their CO2 emissions, the study notes, or in plants customized to run entirely on ammonia. And many of the systems that will make use of green ammonia – including ship engines – are still under development, which is why production levels are low at the moment.
Sweden said it had found a fourth leak on the Nord Stream pipelines this week. NATO said the damage was due to "deliberate, reckless, and irresponsible acts of sabotage". The Swedish coast guard told the Svenska Dagbladet newspaper a fourth leak had been discovered on the Nord Stream 2 pipeline that connects between Russia and Europe. The initial leak was detected on Monday in the Nord Stream 2 pipeline as a drop in pressure was observed in both Nord Stream 1 and 2. Several weeks ago, the CIA told Germany that the Nord Stream pipelines could be attacked, Germany's Der Spiegel newspaper reported.
BRUSSELS, Sept 29 (Reuters) - NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said on Thursday that a deliberate attack against allies' infrastructure would be met with a determined response, following what it called acts of "sabotage" on the Nord Stream pipelines. "All currently available information indicates that this is the result of deliberate, reckless, and irresponsible acts of sabotage," NATO said in a statement. "We, as Allies, have committed to prepare for, deter and defend against the coercive use of energy and other hybrid tactics by state and non-state actors. Any deliberate attack against Allies’ critical infrastructure would be met with a united and determined response," it said. Photographer Trupal Pandya traveled about 30 hours by air, water and land to reach this native community and take their portraits. The Huaorani, which means “the people” or “human beings,” are believed to have inhabited the rainforest for thousands of years. Photographer Trupal Pandya Trupal Pandya“The biggest (reason) was to just go out there and photograph the change before everything changes,” Pandya said. Many Huaorani, who for years have only communicated using a regional dialect, now speak the Ecuadorian native language of Spanish. “(This has been) a really big learning curve of how to just live a very beautiful, normal life.”
