Genetics likely played a large part in his health, an aging expert told Business Insider. Munger was a fan of donuts (in moderation), peanut brittle , and Diet Coke, and he avoided exercise as best he could, he said. "I'm eating this good peanut brittle," he told CNBC during an interview in February 2023. Munger favored peanut brittle by See's Candy, which is owned by Berkshire Hathaway. AdvertisementThe only exception to that was when he served in the US Army Air Force for three years and had to exercise, Munger said.

But even she would probably be surprised that, by 2021, having in the meantime taken over as CEO of her dessert company, that she'd go viral not for cupcakes, but for salad. To some at her company, straying from desserts felt off-brand, Ben-Ishay said on Friday during a talk at the Atlantic Festival. But for the Melissa in Baked by Melissa, posting the way she does on TikTok is all part of making an authentic connection with her customers — one that you're unlikely to make if you're following corporate rules. Smucker , discussed his company's acquisition of Twinkie maker Hostess Brands on Monday with CNBC's Jim Cramer. Smucker said this move will help the company expand its snack offerings, noting how the two brands complement each other. Smucker highlighted his company's Uncrustable snack, a crust-less peanut butter and jelly sandwich, as a product that dovetails well with Hostess's shelf-stable sweet treats. Smucker said he's not worried consumers will lose their taste for sweet snacks, even as obesity drugs and emphasis on healthy eating permeate the U.S. zeitgeist. "Hostess has done such a nice job creating single-serve small portions that allow people to have snacking, sweet snacks, in moderation."

The chain confirmed that its McCafé bakery lineup, consisting of an apple fritter, blueberry muffin and cinnamon roll, is being phased out beginning this month. McDonald’s (MCD) rolled out the bakery lineup in October 2020, marking the first time in roughly a decade that it sold new bakery items. However, breakfast sales at McDonald’s rebounded in recent quarters as people return to the office and people resume their pre-Covid routines. Discontinuing the bakery lineup comes as McDonald’s recently expanded a partnership with Krispy Kreme to sell donuts at nearly 200 locations in Kentucky. For McDonald’s, the partnership looked to attract new customers in the morning when business has remained steady.

State dinners are useful tools for celebrating the culture of the visiting leader, so on Thursday evening, President Biden and the first lady, Jill Biden, hosted a 400-person soiree replete with sequins, saris and saffron-colored flowers in honor of Prime Minister Narendra Modi of India. Meatless delicacies and sweet treats, like rose-cardamom strawberry shortcake, were offered to please the vegetarian guest of honor. The two leaders joked soberly — literally — about their relationship. The good news, Mr. Biden said, was that “neither of us drinks.”Holding a glass of ginger ale, Mr. Biden went on to toast “two great nations, two great friends, and two great powers.”

Central London's City of Westminster is its political heart, while the City of London is where the capital's financial decisions happen. But be warned: Several paths across Hyde Park are pedestrian-only, and police often fine people who cycle on them. The City of London is a blend of old and new, with St Paul's Cathedral close to skyscrapers as well as Roman ruins. While north London has Hampstead Heath, south of the river is Richmond Park, which dwarfs its northern counterpart in size. There's also a branch in central London's Covent Garden — the flower-filled restaurant The Petersham — that has an sit-down deli and bar.

For the Hazrati family, Christmas Day typically includes a lit-up tree, gifts and a dal lunch. While 69% of Americans identify as Christian, as much as 93% of Americans reported celebrating Christmas as of 2019. In an America that celebrates both a religious and secular Christmas, South Asian Americans from other faiths are finding ways to make the holiday their own. Despite Iqbal’s festive decor, her family still abstained from celebrating on Christmas Day because it wasn’t part of their religious traditions. But for some South Asian Americans, celebrating a holiday that isn’t part of their religious identity can feel disingenuous, especially when their own faith is filled with rich celebrations.
