CNN —Concorde, the world’s fastest commercial aircraft, has been making a rare journey – floating down New York’s Hudson River. The British Airways Concorde, one of only 20 of the supersonic aircraft to ever fly, has been en route back to NYC’s Intrepid Museum after being sanded and recoated during several months of restoration. The last ever flight by a Concorde was made on November 26, 2003. That aircraft, known as Delta Foxtrot, is now housed in Aerospace Bristol, an aviation museum in the west of England. Tours of Intrepid’s Concorde will resume on April 4, the museum says.

Tony Fernandes, chief executive officer of Capital A Bhd., during the Milken Institute Asia Summit in Singapore, on Thursday, Sept. 14, 2023. AirAsia founder and CEO Tony Fernandes says he does not regret the viral LinkedIn post that showed him receiving a massage during a meeting — and that transparency is worth potential controversy. The Malaysian businessman is known for an unfiltered approach to posting on social media. It has a disadvantage, that people will misrepresent and misunderstand Tony Fernandes the persona," he said. But by far the strongest reaction to a social media post by Fernandes came in October, when the businessman shared a photograph of himself shirtless in the office.

At one time, it was the world's third-longest flight, and we'd be doing it with a 3-year-old and a 1-year-old with a lap ticket. I did so because Singapore Airlines consistently ranks among the world's best airlines. While she actually loved Singapore Airlines' offerings, I'm glad we brought the headphones — we used them to secure the adult-sized airline-provided earpods, which otherwise slipped off. British startup carrier Global Airlines said on Friday that it had fully acquired an Airbus A380 jet previously owned by China Southern Airlines. MSN 120, however, is not the same plane that Global said it acquired back in May 2023. Following the purchase of MSN 120, Global expects to acquire three more A380s and hopefully launch commercial flights "later this year," it said. "The renaissance of the A380 is really the focus of Global Airlines," HiFly CCO Richard Stephenson said in a December video posted by Global. Singapore Airlines and its budget arm, Scoot, carried around 17.4 million passengers during the half-year, an increase of 52.3% year-on-year. RTX said on Monday it would have to pull 600 to 700 of its Pratt & Whitney Geared Turbofan (GTF) engines from Airbus A320neo jets for quality inspections over the next three years. The engine issue was first disclosed in July, but RTX made the extent of the problem clearer on Monday. The announcement caused waves up and down the industry, from component manufacturers like Japan's Kawasaki Heavy Industries to airline carriers like Germany's Lufthansa that rely on the popular Airbus jets. In July, RTX said microscopic contaminants were found in a powdered metal used in high-pressure turbine discs that are part of the GTF engine's core. RTX is one of two manufacturers of engines for the popular narrowbody Airbus A320neo, the other being CFM International, a joint venture between GE (GE.N) and Safran (SAF.PA).

HONG KONG, Aug 9 (Reuters) - Cathay Pacific Airways (0293.HK) reported on Wednesday its best first-half profit in more than a decade and announced plans to order more planes and repay a Hong Kong government rescue package after a major turnaround in travel demand. Cathay has recovered capacity more slowly than its closest rival, Singapore Airlines, (SIAL.SI) because it faced tighter quarantine rules for longer, and needed to train more staff and bring back grounded planes. The Hong Kong carrier expects to reach 70% of its pre-pandemic capacity by the end of the year and 100% by the end of 2024. Cathay said it intended to exercise purchase rights to buy 32 Airbus (AIR.PA) A320neo family aircraft, looking to add to its fleet as demand rebounds. July 27 (Reuters) - Singapore Airlines (SIAL.SI) said on Thursday it expects competition to intensify in the coming months as carriers scramble to take advantage of strong overseas travel demand that helped the city-state's flagship airline to post a record first-quarter profit. "Macroeconomic and geopolitical uncertainties, as well as inflation, could pose challenges for the airline industry," the company said. Singapore Airlines said it will monitor these trends closely, and adjust its capacity and network accordingly. The airline reported a net profit of S$734 million ($554.84 million) for the three months ended June 30, compared with S$370 million a year earlier. Passenger load factor — a measure of how many seats are filled on planes — for Singapore Airlines was 88.9% in the quarter, compared with 79.0% a year ago.

That’s one consolation Temasek can take from a tricky year. But Temasek’s hopes for a more prosperous year or two ahead rely on matters mostly out of its hands. Reuters Graphics Reuters GraphicsGranted, Temasek had a busy few years propping up the tiny city-state’s companies, like Singapore Airlines (SIAL.SI), after the pandemic hit. Meanwhile, high valuations in the United States, where Temasek has doubled exposure over the past decade, will limit opportunities.
