There's real-life precedent that shows why a CEO can cause huge share price swings when they depart. He was portrayed as an omnipotent boss of the group, reflected in a cratering share price upon his death in the episode that aired April 9. But there is real-life precedent for a company's share price collapsing on news of a powerful CEO's ill-health. The power of Logan RoyThere are downsides to a stock being so closely linked to a powerful CEO like Jobs, Musk, or Roy. Indeed, there have been examples of a share price rally following the death of a CEO, because investors see it as a company decoupling from a deadweight boss.
Former Trump aide Anthony Scaramucci likened his ex-boss to "Succession" patriarch Logan Roy. Scaramucci said Trump is a "family guy," and that Roy — like Trump — loves his kids. He has this love-hate relationship with his family," Scaramucci told MSNBC's Stephanie Ruhle. Brian Cox, who plays Roy, told Collider that the show's creator, Jesse Armstrong, has said that Roy does love his kids. Scaramucci isn't the first person who's likened the Trump family to the Roy family in "Succession."
But PPI readings can predict the direction of future consumer price readings. High interest rates hurt because they increase monthly costs, but it's the lack of supply that contributes to elevated list prices. If we can get inflation down while seeing other economic indicators hold up, the likelihood of a soft landing increases. Fed’s reluctance to go green will cost the Earth

WASHINGTON, March 7 (Reuters Breakingviews) - Central banks don’t think they can do much about the environment. The U.S. Federal Reserve has done even less, arguing it should not tackle climate change without an explicit order from Congress. In a 2021 survey by Invesco, 63% of responding central banks said addressing climate change fell within their mandate. Central banks aren’t best equipped to lead the green transition, anyway. There’s also a valid concern that focusing on climate change could water down the Fed’s mission to fight inflation.
Goldman Sachs expects ECB to raise rates thrice this year

Feb 21 (Reuters) - Goldman Sachs said it was expecting the European Central Bank to raise interest rates thrice this year, taking the terminal rate to 3.5% from 3.25% estimated earlier. In a note dated late Monday, the brokerage said in addition to an increase of 50 basis points in March and 25 basis points in May, it was estimating a 25 basis-point hike in June. Goldman's change in expectations comes after hawkish commentary from ECB board member Isabel Schnabel and French central bank chief Francois Villeroy de Galhau, two influential policymakers from the 26-member Governing Council on Friday. Markets currently see ECB rates peaking at around 3.7% by the end of summer. Reporting by Reshma Rockie George; Editing by Anil D'SilvaOur Standards: The Thomson Reuters Trust Principles.

Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon fleshes out the franchise’s backstory in the form of a pastel-colored adventure that challenges you to control two characters at once as you solve puzzles and take down enemies. Bayonetta Origins, which casts you as a young girl named Cereza (who, spoiler alert, would eventually become Bayonetta) is decidedly not that. The takeawayNintendoI came into my Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon demo with mild expectations, and came out itching to spend more time with Cereza and Cheshire. If you own a Nintendo Switch, it should be on your radar — even if you’ve never played a Bayonetta game before. Bayonetta Origins is up for preorder now and hits stores on March 17, and we’re already looking forward to playing more.

U.S. government touches debt limit

Republicans, with a newly won House majority, aim to use the congressionally mandated federal debt ceiling to exact spending cuts from Biden and the Democratic-led Senate. Republicans are instead pursuing a "debt prioritization" plan that would seek to avert default by urging the Treasury to prioritize debt payments, and possibly other priorities such as Social Security and Medicare, should the limit be breached during negotiations. But we similarly should not blindly increase the debt ceiling," Representative Chip Roy, a leading conservative, told Reuters. Congress adopted a comprehensive debt ceiling, the statutory maximum of debt the government can issue, in 1939, intending to limit its growth. White House officials also note that Republicans in Congress backed multiple increases to the debt ceiling when Republican Donald Trump was president.
Texas GOP Rep. Chip Roy called on his colleagues to stop funding the DHS. The comments came the same day President Joe Biden visited the border in Texas. In a speech to the House, Roy said Texans were "struggling" and claimed Republicans would seek to strip funding from the DHS this year. DHS has become a favorite target of the GOP, who blame the agency for what they see as missteps at the border. Roy's call also follows a recent trend of Republicans seeking to defund various agencies, such as the FBI.
“It’s critically important that the Rules Committee reflect the body and reflect the will of the people. “What we’re seeing is the incredibly shrinking speakership,” former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said in an interview Friday. “The reason these people want to be on the Rules Committee is they want to screw things up for McCarthy. The message the leader received from his deal-making centrists: We can live with giving Freedom Caucus members committee slots but committee gavels are a “nonstarter.”“Nobody should get a chairmanship without earning it,” Bacon said. In this Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2016, file photo, Jesse Benton arrives for his sentencing hearing at the federal courthouse in Des Moines, Iowa. WASHINGTON — A Republican political operative and former campaign aide was convicted in federal court this week of funneling $25,000 from a Russian businessman to Donald Trump's 2016 presidential campaign. The money for the donation originally came from Roman Vasilenko, a former Russian naval officer turned multilevel marketer and CEO of the "Life is Good International Business Academy." When Benton paid the Trump Victory committee for the ticket, he used his own credit card, pocketing the remaining $75,000 from Vasilenko. Thursday's conviction marks the second time that Benton has been found guilty of a campaign finance crime.

Rory McIlroy: 'Golf is ripping itself apart'

September 29 - Rory McIlroy finds himself in a field that includes several LIV Golf players at this week's Alfred Dunhill Links Championship in St. Andrews, Scotland, and once again, he didn't hesitate to express his thoughts on the Saudi-backed upstart circuit. You look at some other sports and what's happened and the game of golf is ripping itself apart right now," McIlroy said. I just think right now, with where everything is, it's probably not the right time." There's criteria there, everyone knows what they are and if they want to pivot to meet the criteria they can," McIlroy said. As for the PGA Tour and LIV making peace with each other, that seems unlikely to happen, at least as long as Jay Monahan is commissioner of the PGA Tour.
