Tesla Cybertruck orderers are anxiously awaiting their vehicles. Between its stainless steel panels, interesting proportions, and other quirks, the design of the Cybertruck has industry experts scratching their heads. It goes to show that Cybertruck buyers still don't exactly know what they're getting into, with such little spec information available and uncertainty about pricing and delivery timelines. Regardless, it's not unusual for today's Cybertruck images to differ slightly from previously released photos. Walter Isaacson, who's working on a new biography of Elon Musk, recently posted images that appear to show early Cybertruck designs.

That makes it even more important to give loyal truck buyers some details to work with. "If you're looking to convert average pickup truck buyers to something different, that's a little harder," Fiorani said.

More shoppers are choosing electric vehicles so far this year than ever, according to vehicle sales data from Cox Automotive. While EV sales have been growing healthily for the past couple of years, that trend has accelerated this year. The electric vehicle market is entering into a transition period, she said. The average electric vehicle price in July was $53,469, according to Kelley Blue Book, versus an average price of $48,334 across all vehicles. But the number of charging stations still lags behind what is needed to support a wider-scale adoption of electric vehicles.

HUNTINGTON BEACH, California, Aug 3 (Reuters) - Electric vehicle (EV) maker Fisker Inc (FSR.N) unveiled a pickup truck on Thursday, weeks after starting deliveries of its flagship sport utility vehicle (SUV) and as it tackles persistent supply chain issues. Fisker aims to make a mark in the crowded EV market with lower-priced vehicles that still have high-design sensibility. Fisker said Alaska, reservations for which opened on Thursday, would be built on the same platform as its Ocean SUV. Fisker, which uses contract manufacturing for its vehicles, aims to keep cost of production as well as vehicle prices low. While the Ocean SUV starts at $37,499, its smaller Pear SUV, which was also unveiled on Thursday, is priced at $29,990.

While charging and fueling trucks cost the same, other cars and their electric counterparts differ. It's not yet cheaper to charge some electric cars than to fuel them with gas, a new study suggests. It's not yet cheaper to charge many electric cars than it would be to fuel their gas-powered counterparts up with gas, a new study indicates. Trucks cost about the same to fuel and charge, while entry and midlevel cars and SUVs cost more to charge at home and in public than they do to fuel at a gas station, the group found. Luxury-segment EVs may cost less to charge at home than their gas counterparts would cost to fuel.

It looks like frunk in the Ford F-150 Lightning, one of the Cybertruck's closest rivals, is way bigger. The Ford F-150 Lightning looks like it has one big edge over Tesla's upcoming Cybertruck. Judging by an unverified photo posted online and first spotted by the EV news website Electrek, the Cybertruck's frunk looks rather tiny, which may disappoint potential buyers. When I drove the F-150 Lighting last year, the truck's frunk easily handled multiple backpacks and duffels that I didn't want sliding around in the bed. Tesla is one of the few companies that make money on electric vehicles, and it dominates the U.S. and European electric car markets. As a result, the company is in a stronger position than other automakers who are losing billions of dollars on electric cars. The Cybertruck will be Tesla’s first new passenger model since the Model Y went on sale in 2020. Unlike the Model Y, a sport utility vehicle that had scant competition when it went on sale, the Cybertruck enters a crowded field. Ford Motor offers an electric pickup, the F-150 Lightning, as does Rivian, a fledgling carmaker that sells an electric pickup called the R1T.

We're raising our eyebrows at Ford 's (F) new price cuts on its popular electric pick-up truck. Jim Cramer called Ford's price cuts "counterintuitive" given the robust demand the F-150 Lightning has been seeing so far this year. In February, the company had to pause production and shipments on its electric pickup truck due to a potential battery issue. Meanwhile, prices for new electric vehicles were down 20% for the month driven by Tesla's EV price cuts earlier this year. A Rivian owner said repairs cost $42,000 for his R1T after a fender bender, according to The New York Times. But, after the electric car was taken to a repair shop that was certified to work with Rivian products the cost jumped to $42,000, the publication said. The repair cost over half the starting price of the vehicle. Last year, a study from CCC Intelligent Solutions found that on average EV repairs cost more than repairs for gas-powered cars. Another report from Mitchell that was cited by the Times found that last year EV repairs cost about $2,400 more than fixes for traditional combustion-engine vehicles.

Rivian said on Monday it delivered 12,640 vehicles in the second quarter on steady demand from customers, beating market estimates. That result was in line with that of market leader Tesla Inc (TSLA.O), which on Sunday reported record quarterly vehicle deliveries fueled by incentives such as prices cuts and U.S. federal credits. The shares of several EV makers have risen since last week on market expectations of strong quarterly delivery reports. Multiple analysts have raised their price targets for Rivian's stock as the EV maker is seen as having overcome production and supply chain challenges that restricted deliveries. Twenty-three Wall Street brokerages covering Rivian on average recommend buying the stock and set a median price target of $24, Refinitiv data showed.

SAN FRANCISCO, June 20 (Reuters) - Electric vehicle maker Rivian (RIVN.O) said on Tuesday it has agreed to adopt Tesla's (TSLA.O) charging standard, giving Rivian customers access to the biggest U.S. charging network and adding momentum to Tesla's bid to set the industry standard. Rivian also said it will make a Tesla-style charging port standard on its vehicles starting in 2025. While other automakers get access to Tesla's charging network, Tesla stands to profit from selling power to a bigger group of electric vehicle drivers. Tesla's charging standard had been proprietary until November, when it made the design and specifications public and rebranded the technology as the North American Charging Standard (NACS). "It's great to see the industry coming together to adopt the North American Charging Standard," Tesla's senior director of charging infrastructure, Rebecca Tinucci, said in a statement.
