Rights groups condemned the arrest of reporter Ariane Lavrilleux, who authored the report that said French intelligence intended to track jihadist militants had been misused by Egypt to target smugglers on the Libyan border and kill civilians. Lavrilleux's lawyer, Virginie Marquet, said her client was being questioned by a judge and police officers from the French intelligence service DGSI as part of an investigation into compromising national security. The documents included purported messages from those involved alerting their superiors that their information was being misused for bombing civilians. Reporters Without Borders and other rights groups also released statements condemning the arrest. NEW YORK (AP) — Houston Rockets guard Kevin Porter Jr.'s alleged attack on his girlfriend at a New York City hotel left the woman with a fractured neck vertebrae and a cut above her right eye, prosecutors revealed at his arraignment Tuesday. Porter, 23, is charged with felony assault and strangulation in connection with the incident Monday at the Millennium Hilton near the United Nations in Manhattan. Hospital testing showed that the woman, 26, sustained a fractured vertebrae in her neck, the criminal complaint said. In April 2021, the NBA fined Porter $50,000 for violating the league’s COVID-19 health and safety rules by visiting a Miami strip club. In January 2022, the Rockets suspended Porter for a game after then-coach Stephen Silas said the player had a “spirited debate” and “lost his temper” at halftime.

Mitch McConnell froze once again during a press conference on Wednesday. Doctors have speculated that the Senate Minority Leader may be experiencing seizures. Last month, McConnell had a similarly awkward moment when he abruptly stopped speaking during a press conference at the Capitol. AdvertisementAdvertisementThe supposed seizures could be connected to a series of falls and a concussion in March experienced by McConnell, Thaler told WCVB-TV. Vossel said that age is a major risk factor for these types of seizures, more so than experiencing a fall, per DailyMail.com.

watch nowSenate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell is "medically clear" to continue working, the attending physician for the U.S. Congress said one day after the Kentucky Republican froze during a press conference for the second time this summer. The doctor was referencing a concussion that McConnell, 81, had suffered in March after a fall at a political fundraiser. Monahan said he has "consulted with Leader McConnell and conferred with his neurology team," and gave him the all-clear after "evaluating yesterday's incident." That incident came at the start of a Wednesday afternoon press conference in Covington, Kentucky, when McConnell abruptly stopped speaking and stared straight ahead for about 30 seconds. He appeared to fail to respond when an aide approached him to ask if he had heard a reporter's question.

Gou said investors would lose confidence in China if the country confiscated Foxconn's assets. AdvertisementAdvertisementTerry Gou, the billionaire founder of Foxconn — a key supplier to Apple — has thrown his hat into the ring for Taiwan's presidential election. Gou said Beijing — which claimed self-ruled Taiwan as its territory — wouldn't be able to use the businessman's vast empire to influence him. Gou said Foxconn's clients include the most important names on Wall Street, including Apple, Amazon, Tesla, and the current investor-favorite, Nvidia. So, supply chains would be massively disrupted if Beijing confiscated Foxconn's assets, he said.

The healthcare startup January uses CGMs and AI to monitor glucose levels, exercise, and sleep. I have low blood sugar, and January used machine learning to coach me to healthier habits. Low blood sugar, or hypoglycemia, is less common than high blood sugar, or hyperglycemia. Samantha Stokes/InsiderAt the end of January's AI training, I unlocked a suite of tools to track my food, exercise, blood sugar, and more. But January encouraged me to take a short walk after eating, which can help moderate glucose levels following a meal.
