Jane Birkin died in Paris on Sunday at age 76. Because, for me, the Birkin bag — which retails for anywhere from $10,000 to $250,000 for the more high-end designs — primarily represents a store of value. The value of gold rose by about 2% on average over the 35 years. And I, for one, can't stop from marveling that all this was spurred from a chance conversation between Jane Birkin and an Hermès executive back in 1980. The singer and actor who inspired Hermès' signature bag died on Sunday at age 76.

It could not immediately be determined how much Russian oil Indian refiners have bought with yuan, although Indian Oil has paid in yuan for multiple cargoes, sources said. The rise in yuan payments has given a boost to Beijing's efforts to internationalise its currency, with Chinese banks promoting its use specifically for Russian oil trade. Indian refiners have also settled some non-dollar payments for Russian oil in the United Arab Emirates' dirham, sources have said. One private refiner has also been using the same mechanism for payments for Russian oil, one of the sources said. Another state refiner, Bharat Petroleum Corp Ltd (BPCL.NS), is also exploring yuan payment for Russian oil, a separate source said.

Many American millennials and Gen Z depend on their parents for money. Experian surveyed 2,008 US millennials and Gen Z and found that 54% of them are dependent on their parents. About 60% of those in Gen Z said they depend financially on mom and dad. Millennials' financial woes have been well documented, but there are two interesting twists in this study:They don't feel great asking their parents for financial support. They're asking their parents for financial help, but they don't agree with their parents' financial habits.

Travel search engine Kayak launched a new budgeting tool called "Vacay Valuator" on May 19. The calculator presented me with 15 options of comforts I was willing to give up in exchange for my next holiday. As a millennial, I found the tool was playing on tropes like "stop getting takeaway coffees to become financially stable." But I was looking forward to some good news when I read that on May 19, travel search engine Kayak launched a new budgeting tool — "Vacay Valuator" — that helps people book their next vacation. A screenshot of Kayak's budgeting tool Vacay Valuator KayakNotably, the tool didn't ask for my income or any other parameters for budgeting, but I went along with it anyway.
