Vikings head coach Kevin O'Connell told reporters after the team's 24-10 win over the Green Bay Packers that he feared it was an Achilles injury. Cousins was 23-of-31 passing for 274 yards with two touchdowns at the time of the injury. While likely the worst injury to a quarterback in the early games on Sunday, Cousins was far from alone. The NFL has fined Seattle Seahawks safety Jamal Adams $50,000 for comments directed toward a concussion doctor during last week's game against Cincinnati, a person familiar with the league's discipline told The Associated Press on Friday. The person said Adams also made physical conduct with an unaffiliated neurotrauma consultant who was preparing to evaluate Seahawks wide receiver Jake Bobo for a potential concussion. Replays showed Adams repeatedly shouting, “He good!” as the consultant and Bobo walked toward the medical tent for evaluation. However, those videos did not show any physical contact between Adams and the consultant. Bengals safety Dax Hill hit Bobo hard at the end of a 20-yard reception, drawing a flag for unnecessary roughness.

The Bills said Harris does have movement in his arms and legs. Harris flashed a thumbs up sign with his left hand as he was being loaded into the ambulance. The game was delayed for about five minutes while players from both teams gathered around him on the field. It took a disastrous loss instead, as Georgia Tech turned a huge mistake by the Hurricanes into a last-second miracle. CNN —The Miami Dolphins put on an offensive masterclass Sunday, defeating the Denver Broncos 70-20 in their home opener and scoring the second most points by a team in a regular season game in NFL history. The NFL record for one game is 73 points, set by the Chicago Bears in the 1940 NFL Championship. The regular season record is 72 points by Washington in 1966. Late in the fourth quarter the Dolphins had a chance to break the NFL regular season record and tie the Bears’ mark but opted to kneel instead of kicking a field goal from the Broncos’ 28-yard line. The only other team to score 70 points in an NFL game was the Los Angeles Rams in 1950 against the Baltimore Colts.

SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) — The San Francisco 49ers gave coach Kyle Shanahan and general manager John Lynch multi-year contract extensions on Friday. San Francisco is 55-46 in six-plus seasons under Shanahan and Lynch with six playoff wins. San Francisco passed up an opportunity to draft Patrick Mahomes in 2017 and then traded three first-round picks to draft quarterback Trey Lance third overall in 2021. That move didn't prove to be a major setback because San Francisco found starting quarterback Brock Purdy with the final pick of the 2022 draft. Purdy is back healthy this season playing at a highly efficient level as San Francisco has scored 30 points in each game.
