For years, Apple has leaned on Google and Amazon's cloud services to store data for its products. For example, when Apple device users do iCloud backups they are often stored in Google's data centers. Most of the impressive features of AI models must be at least partly handled in massive energy-sucking data centers, which companies such as Microsoft, Google and Amazon have spent years building. Bloomberg previously reported that Google and Apple were also in talks to bring Google's Gemini AI to iOS devices.

CNN —Soccer star Sam Kerr has signed a new contract with current Women’s Super League (WSL) champion Chelsea, the club announced Thursday, but not before giving her fans a minor scare. According to BBC Sport, it was Kerr’s idea to tease the fans around the news of the contract extension. Kerr has become one of the best players in women's soccer. Former Chelsea manager Hayes had made it her mission to convince Kerr to move to the WSL club back in 2019. Sonia Bompastor’s recent arrival as the new Chelsea manager marks a new era in west London, but retaining Kerr will help steady the ship.

Oracle shares closed up more than 13% on Wednesday, a day after the software company announced its fourth-quarter results and cloud deals with Microsoft -backed OpenAI and Google . Alongside its results, Oracle said it is partnering with Microsoft and OpenAI to help supply additional computing capacity for the startup. Analysts from Citi said Oracle's sluggish revenue for the fourth quarter was offset by "tremendous RPO bookings growth." UBS analysts said the highlight of Oracle's results is its "extraordinary sequential backlog growth of $18 billion." Morgan Stanley analysts said Oracle's quarter was mixed, but the "near term AI build-out likely wins the day and sustains momentum in shares."

OpenAI on Monday hired two top executives and announced a partnership with Apple that includes a ChatGPT-Siri integration, the company announced in two blog posts. The company said Sarah Friar, previously CEO of Nextdoor and finance chief at Square, is joining as chief financial officer. OpenAI also hired Kevin Weil, an ex-president at Planet Labs , as its new chief product officer, according to the blog post. Weil's product team will be focused on "applying our research to products and services that benefit consumers, developers, and businesses," the company wrote. "Siri can also tap into ChatGPT's intelligence when helpful," OpenAI wrote.
