LONDON, July 11 (Reuters) - Siblings and solo around-the-world aviators Mack and Zara Rutherford set more records on Tuesday as they collected a trophy whose previous winners include Lewis Hamilton and Richard Branson. The British-Belgian duo are the youngest winners of the Royal Automobile Club's Segrave Trophy, first awarded in 1930 and featuring a roll call of aviation pioneers and motorsport greats. Only four women have previously won the Segrave trophy - awarded to British adventurers who show outstanding skill, courage and initiative in travel on land, sea or air - and none as young as Zara. Mack, who beat the record set by 18-year-old Briton Travis Ludlow in 2021, had to land on an uninhabited island after crossing the Pacific Ocean on a trip whose itinerary had to be changed due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Previous winners of the Segrave Trophy include Formula One racing drivers Stirling Moss, Bruce McLaren, Jackie Stewart, Nigel Mansell and Damon Hill as well as Hamilton.

For her, full-time freelance writing was a torturous cycle of overwork and underpayment. I left a previous full-time job on February 28, 2020, right as the COVID-19 pandemic took America — and my job prospects — by surprise. I learned a lot from it, though, and I'd hope that my experience can help a different freelancer or potential freelancer on their journey. My pay rate remained dismal. It was a valuable experience that taught me a lot — but I won't miss it for a second.

LONDON, May 1 (Reuters) - Red Bull's technical head Adrian Newey, one of Formula One's most successful designers of all time, has signed a contract extension with the reigning world champions, motorsport.com reported on Monday. A team spokesman said contracts were not publicly discussed but indicated Newey, 64, "won't be going anywhere for some time". The Briton has designed title-winning cars for Williams, McLaren and Red Bull in more than 40 years in the sport and was reportedly in the final year of his contract as Red Bull's chief technical officer. He joined Red Bull from McLaren in 2006, with the team winning four drivers' and constructors' titles in a row from 2010-2013 with Sebastian Vettel. Red Bull have won all four races so far this season, three of them one-two.

He speculated a lot of men burned out at work because of a fear of seeking help. Garfield's move was similar to the "quiet quitting" phenomenon sweeping the workforce, in which employees do the work they're paid for and no more. For these men, jobs aren't just a source of income; they're a source of social status, Wu found, something that's especially true for white men and younger men. "I think too many men don't want to say they are overloaded or have too much on their plate," Garfield said. "I think men have bigger egos and don't want to look weak, and unfortunately, companies use this to their advantage."

F1 team bosses have their own light-bulb moment
  + stars: | 2023-02-26 | by ( Alan Baldwin | ) www.reuters.com   time to read: +4 min
LONDON, Feb 26 (Reuters) - The late McLaren boss Teddy Mayer liked to compare Formula One drivers to interchangeable light-bulbs, declaring "you plug them in and they do the job", and nowadays the same might be said for team principals. The Frenchman is on his third different team, after stints at Sauber and Renault. "It shows also that the role of the team principal is maybe sometimes also a bit over-rated because if you can change it so quickly and there is no big impact, it tells also something. Sauber, with Swedish billionaire Finn Rausing as chairman of the board, will become the Audi works team from 2026. "But other than that we must not forget that F1 teams have developed into big organisations where the owners are not any more the team principals... some have engineers as team principals, some have more an old-fashioned rule."
