However, Red Bull Racing’s 2023 competitor, the RB19, has absolutely fried the system and blown past the boundaries of what appeared possible in this sport. Mark Thompson/Getty ImagesNewey has been designing F1 cars since 1988 and has won 12 Constructors’ Championships, split between his time at Williams, McLaren and Red Bull. Red Bull team principal Christian Horner has described Newey as “the only bloke that can see air” in an interview with Red Bull. And Mercedes eventually ceded its position at the summit of F1 to Red Bull in 2022 after being in control for much of the turbo-hybrid era. But it does raise the question: how far can Red Bull go?

SINGAPORE, Sept 14 (Reuters) - Lewis Hamilton slammed Red Bull motorsport adviser Helmut Marko on Thursday for "completely unacceptable" comments blaming Mexican Formula One driver Sergio Perez's fluctuating form on his ethnicity. Perez told reporters separately at the Singapore Grand Prix that he had accepted a personal apology from the 80-year-old Austrian, an influential member of his dominant Formula One team's leadership. "I got an apology from him, a direct apology, which to me was the most important one," Perez told reporters. That to me is what matters," added the 33-year-old, who joined Red Bull in 2021 and has won two races so far this season. Perez, the winner in Singapore last year, is 145 points behind Verstappen after 14 of 22 races with Red Bull winning every round so far.

Hamilton's 104th pole position feels like a first

BUDAPEST, July 22 (Reuters) - Lewis Hamilton has had more pole positions than any driver in Formula One history, but the Briton's 104th in Hungary on Saturday still felt like a first. "It feels like my first pole, believe it or not," Hamilton said after beating Red Bull's runaway championship leader Max Verstappen by just 0.003 of a second. "It feels strange to say that when there's 104 but I don't remember the last time I had a pole, it feels so long ago." On Friday, when he was only 16th fastest, Hamilton said his car felt like the worst, but a day later and he was suddenly fastest -- in both final practice and qualifying after overnight tweaks. The pole lap, he said, had felt like he was hardly breathing.

CNN —Apple Original Films has unveiled details of Oscar winner Brad Pitt’s eagerly awaited Formula 1 feature film, as crews begin filming scenes with the actor at Silverstone, where Sunday’s British Grand Prix is being staged. The movie is being made in collaboration with F1, and stars Pitt as a former driver returning to the sport with fictional team APXGP, alongside “Snowfall” actor Damson Idris as his teammate. And what better place to film such a feature than Silverstone, famously the first circuit to ever host an F1 race in 1950. The fictional team will even have its own pit-stop at the track, and filming is due to take place amid this weekend’s British Grand Prix.
