The group said Harris had given it the cold shoulder and “fumbled” by refusing even the “small gesture” of allowing a Palestinian American speaker at last month’s Democratic National Convention. The Uncommitted Movement emerged as a result of Democratic voters’ expressing dissatisfaction with this year’s Democratic presidential primaries. More than 700,000 voters ended up selecting “uncommitted,” sending 30 uncommitted delegates to the Democratic National Convention in Chicago. Instead, uncommitted delegates staged a sit-in outside the convention hall and set a new deadline of Sept. 15 for Harris to meet with Palestinian American families in Michigan who had lost loved ones in Gaza. That request was rebuffed, as well, according to the group, leading it to issue of the non-endorsement of Harris.

Surveys indicate that health care is among the top priorities for voters in the November presidential election. Former President Donald Trump has given little detail about his health care vision; his running mate, JD Vance, has suggested deregulation. Each country was graded on five categories: access to care, care process, administrative efficiency, equity and health outcomes. “For far too many people, high-quality medical care is out of reach.”Dr. Adam Gaffney, a critical care physician at the Cambridge Health Alliance in Massachusetts, pointed out that the U.S. differs from the other countries in one critical area: universal health care coverage. Thursday’s report also listed solutions to the country’s health care problems, including lowering the cost of care and expanding access to coverage.

Former President Donald Trump said during a Wednesday rally that he would travel to Springfield, Ohio, the focal point of unsubstantiated claims targeting Haitian migrants, "in the next two weeks." The visit to the beleaguered Ohio city of Springfield would come as Trump has pushed baseless claims about Haitian migrants there eating pets, a false claim that has been repeatedly debunked. NBC News has previously reported that Trump planned to visit Springfield "soon." “In Springfield, they’re eating the dogs," Trump said, falsely, during the debate. They’re eating, they’re eating the pets of the people that live there."

Ji has listed the apartment on Airbnb with a minimum of 30-night stays and advertises the "amazing opportunity to live inside the home previously owned by Vice President Kamala Harris." He's even added a commemorative wall with photos from her career, including the day she was sworn in as vice president, according to the listing. Setty served South Indian dishes to guests as they watched Harris debate former President Donald Trump, the Times said. The Times reported that Setty called Harris a "rock star" when talking with other supporters at the debate party.

“Kamala Harris isn’t talking about the historic nature of this,” Walz, the Democratic running mate, told supporters here at a rally. But the strategies of both sides have overlapping objectives, with Trump working to widen his advantage with White men while making gains among young Black and Latino voters. “They both have their qualities, they both have their flaws,” said Hernandez, a North Carolina voter who is torn between Trump and Harris. But the Trump campaign is also targeting many of the same voters, particularly young men whose decision whether to vote – and for whom – could be a turning point in the election. Women make up a slim majority of the electorate, but the degree to which Trump can hold onto male voters could determine the outcome of the November election.

Half a dozen interviews later, her media strategy is taking shape, even if viewers in New York and Washington might not be seeing it. In recent days, Harris has granted sit-downs to local media outlets and fielded questions in unconventional forums to target crucial swing state and minority voters. Earlier this week, Harris parried tough questions from the National Association of Black Journalists and taped an appearance with Stephanie “Chiquibaby” Himonidis, a popular Spanish-language radio host and podcaster. Trump’s media strategy is looser – he appears on his favorite Fox shows, gives statements and brief interviews to beat reporters, and holds occasional press conferences. In addition to viewers watching online, Winfrey will invite 400 local voters to join her for the conversation in-person, focusing particularly on voters in battleground states as the election approaches.

The Haitian Times, an online publication, has covered Haiti and the Haitian diaspora around the world since it was founded in 1999. Springfield, Ohio, was already on the Haitian Times’ radar well before the conspiracy theories began. The Haitian Times covered the comments aggressively — describing them as racist and false. The day after the debate, The Haitian Times published an article reporting that Haitian immigrant families in Ohio were “under attack” amid the intense swirl of false claims. Springfield’s city manager told the publication that it could not guarantee the safety of its staff, Haitian Times founder Garry Pierre-Pierre told CNN.

CNN —Far be it from anyone to identify a defined strategy in the cat memes that have overtaken the American political conversation in a pivotal election year. Never mind the state’s Republican governor, who also counseled against a campaign visit, called out state troopers to city schools to ease concern about scores of bomb threats. Intentional or not, the insult cued a new round of stories about how the Trump campaign doesn’t seem to mind turning off women voters. Women voters have shifted away from Trump since Harris entered the race, according to polls. “Every time I do a focus group with swing voters, they bring up JD Vance talking about childless cat ladies.

Harris responded that she’d cap child care costs at 7% of working families’ income, following the Biden administration playbook that she was heavily involved in writing. “My plan is that no family, no working family, should pay more than 7% of their household income in child care,” Harris said Tuesday at a National Association of Black Journalists event, noting that steep child care expenses make it difficult for many parents to work. Child care advocates were buoyed by Harris’ answer on Tuesday. Parents with two kids in a child care center paid on average at least twice as much for that care as they did for the typical rent in 11 states and the District of Columbia in 2023, according to a Child Care Aware of America report released in May. That equates to 10% of median household income for a married couple with children and 32% of median income for a single parent with children, Child Care Aware found.

CNN —Iranian hackers sent unsolicited information they stole from Donald Trump’s presidential campaign to people who were affiliated with Joe Biden’s campaign over the summer, federal law enforcement officials said Wednesday. The law enforcement statement Wednesday said that the hackers’ efforts to send information to US media outlets have continued. Law enforcement officials have previously said that those efforts also included an unsuccessful attempt to hack the Biden-Harris campaign. The Iranian hackers did breach the email account of longtime Trump ally Roger Stone to target campaign staff in June, CNN has reported. Investigators believe the suspected Iranian hackers breached Stone’s account and then used that email account to try to break into the account of a senior Trump campaign official as part of a persistent effort to access campaign networks.

Then on Wednesday, Musk reshared a bogus claim that a bomb had been discovered near the site of a planned Trump rally in Long Island. Musk’s own post has been earmarked with a crowd-sourced “community notes” fact-check that makes clear the claim was false. X did not respond to a CNN request for comment Wednesday on Musk’s posts. CNN —The International Brotherhood of Teamsters declined to endorse a presidential candidate on Wednesday after releasing internal polling that showed a majority of its members supported former President Donald Trump over Vice President Kamala Harris. The Trump campaign highlighted that support from “rank-and-file” Teamsters members following the union’s announcement that it would not be endorsing. CNN previously reported that rank-and-file union membership had large pockets of Trump support, even as major labor leaders endorsed Harris. That survey also included Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who garnered about 6% of members’ support. While union members are thought of as a traditionally Democratic voting bloc, Trump has been working to make inroads among rank-and-file members.

On Tuesday, Senate Democrats are bringing the Right to IVF Act to a second vote, just 3 months after Republicans in the chamber first shot it down. They want to pressure Trump to stand by his promise to support IVF and urge his Republican colleagues to vote in favor. "If Donald Trump and Republicans want to protect people's right to access IVF, they can vote yes on it," Illinois Sen. Tammy Duckworth, who sponsored the legislation, told CBS News. Trump jumped in to voice his support of the procedure, and by May, two GOP senators were introducing a package to protect IVF access, though Democrats rejected it, arguing it didn't go far enough.

CNN —Ex-President Donald Trump responded to a second apparent assassination attempt that he blames on incendiary political rhetoric by inflaming the situation even more. He accused President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris of inviting assassins to target him when they warn that he is a threat to democracy. But Trump’s claims that Biden and Harris bear direct culpability underscore the extreme nature of his own political instincts. Biden and Trump had a telephone conversation, and the president conveyed his relief that his erstwhile rival was safe. And when he refused to concede that he lost the 2020 election, Trump called supporters to Washington, DC, and told them to “fight like hell” or they wouldn’t have a country anymore.
