Arnold Schwarzenegger is owning up to a past feud with a fellow action star. The septuagenarian former governor of California visited the “Graham Norton Show”on Friday, where he admitted that he and Sylvester Stallone started out as major “movie rivals” before they became “fantastic friends.”“We were movie rivals, but we took the competitiveness to the extreme,” the “Terminator” star explained on the show. “We each had to have the best body, we had to kill more people in our films, and we had to have the biggest guns,” Schwarzenegger continued. “It got out of control, and we tried to derail each other,” he added. This year, both Schwarzenegger and Stallone are also the subject of Netflix documentaries, with “Arnold” having come out in June and “Sly” due to premiere next month.

October 26 - The San Antonio Spurs and Houston Rockets will look to put opening-night disappointments in the rear-view mirror when the Lone Star State rivals meet on Friday in the Alamo City. San Antonio and Houston tied for the worst record (22-60) in the Western Conference last season. A back-and-forth final period featured five ties before a pair of free throws by San Antonio's Devin Vassell with 2:09 to play gave San Antonio a short-lived advantage. Fred VanVleet and Dillon Brooks hit for 14 points apiece in their Houston debuts while Alperen Sengun posted 14 points, eight rebounds and six assists for the Rockets. In a direct challenge to federal power over immigration, the Texas House on Thursday approved the creation of a state-level crime for entering the country from Mexico between ports of entry, allowing local police agencies to arrest and jail unauthorized migrants or order them back to Mexico. The Texas House also approved an additional $1.5 billion for the state to use to construct its own barriers near the international boundary. The arrest measure now returns to the Senate, which has already approved its own version, and then head to Mr. Abbott’s desk for his signature. “It is a humane, logical and efficient approach,” Representative David Spiller, a Republican from west of Fort Worth, said in introducing his arrest bill before the vote. “There is nothing unfair about ordering someone back from where they came if they arrived here illegally.”

Texas developers continue to build offices, even though office-vacancy rates are high. That's because Texas developers build too much. Even with those numbers, Eckert told the Journal that new office completions in Texas eclipsed every other market. Part of that cleansing is converting office buildings into something new , giving them a chance at a new lease on life. Overall, Eckert isn't worried about the office vacancies in Texas, as that is just one data point that doesn't tell the whole story.

September 14 - The New York Mets' three-game sweep at Arizona in early July helped send the Diamondbacks into a spiral that nearly ruined their season. The visiting Diamondbacks will look to salvage an important split of a four-game series Thursday afternoon when they face the Mets in the final clash of the season between the teams. "We can't do anything other than come out and win a baseball game (Thursday) and split the series," Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo said. The nine-game skid completed a 7-25 stretch dating back to July 2 -- two days before the Mets earned an 8-5 win in the opener of a three-game series in Phoenix. Senga also didn't factor into the decision on Friday after giving up two runs over six innings in the Mets' 5-2 loss at Minnesota.

The state's population growth has helped its economy thrive. Plenty of Americans have moved to Texas in recent years, but the state's population growth has also been driven by another factor — native-born residents aren't leaving. It's helping fuel an economic boom at a time when many businesses are struggling to attract workers . Texas has no state income tax , and major cities like Dallas and Austin provide residents plenty of places to pursue job opportunities. But the state's population trends should position it well in the long term.

Maura Healey of Massachusetts, a liberal Democrat, has declared a state of emergency, activated the National Guard and started petitioning the White House for help. The migrants on state-funded buses from Texas are a fraction of the total number arriving in northern cities. Some of those migrants have family in New York, while others are attracted to the city’s history of welcoming immigrants. Still, the rising clamor is creating a rare convergence between the two parties, which for years have fought in seemingly parallel political universes. Endless Republican news conferences at the border and threats to impeach Alejandro Mayorkas, the homeland security secretary, were dismissed as political bluster.

Abbott plans to appeal a federal judge's order to remove a Rio Grande barrier. The judge ruled Texas must get rid of the floating barrier by Sept. 15 — and pay for its removal. Greg Abbott said he'd appeal the decision — and wouldn't get rid of the floating barrier unless SCOTUS tells him to. "Governor Abbott announced that he was not 'asking for permission' for Operation Lone Star, the anti-immigration program under which Texas constructed the floating barrier. Workers install connected buoys, a measure by Texas authorities in an attempt to deter migrants from crossing the border, in the Rio Grande in Eagle Pass, Texas, U.S. July 24, 2023. The Biden administration argued in a legal challenge that the 1,000-foot (305-meter) barrier illegally disrupts navigation and was installed without permission from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The floating barrier is one of multiple strategies Abbott has launched to deter migrants, including coils of razor wire placed along the riverbank. "Unfortunately for Texas, permission is exactly what federal law requires before installing obstructions in the nation's navigable waters." The Texas Department of Public Safety said the victim appeared to have drifted into the barrier after drowning.
