CNN —Rumors and speculation are swirling as multiple UK outlets and racing publications are reporting that seven-time Formula One champion Lewis Hamilton is poised to leave Mercedes and join Ferrari for the 2025 season. Nothing has been formally announced, and none of the parties will confirm a deal is in place. CNN has reached out to Mercedes and Ferrari, who both declined to comment. CNN has also reached out to representation for Hamilton. However, in a shock move first reported by Sky Sports and Spanish media, Hamilton is now expected to leave Mercedes a year early to join Charles Leclerc at Ferrari for 2025, replacing Carlos Sainz.

Luxury sports car manufacturer Ferrari topped Wall Street's top- and bottom-line earnings expectations for the fourth quarter to finish off a record year of profits. The automaker reported a net profit of 1.26 billion euros, or $1.36 billion, for 2023, including 294 million euros, or $317.9 million, during the fourth quarter. Its adjusted earnings before interest and taxes, or EBIT, was 1.62 billion euros, or $1.75 billion, for the year, including 372 million euros, or $402.3 million, in the last quarter. Ferrari's revenue last year increased 17% to 5.97 billion euros, or $6.46 billion, including an 11% increase in the fourth quarter from 1.37 billion euros a year earlier in 2022. Such records are expected to be short-lived, as Ferrari is forecasting to top many of those results in 2024.

NEW YORK (AP) — British billionaire Joe Lewis, whose family trust owns the Tottenham Hotspur soccer club, pleaded guilty Wednesday to insider trading and conspiracy charges in New York. The 86-year-old businessman entered the plea in Manhattan federal court six months after he was charged in the case. U.S. Attorney Damian Williams said the plea deal includes the largest financial penalty for insider trading in a decade. Broad Bay Limited, which Lewis owns, will pay more than $50 million in financial penalties, the prosecutor said in a release. Federal sentencing guidelines call for a prison sentence of between 18 and 24 months, though Lewis can seek less than that.

HOUSTON (AP) — A Texas attorney has been accused of using work-related visits to a county jail to smuggle in legal paperwork laced with ecstasy and synthetic marijuana to inmates over the past several months, authorities announced Monday. Ronald Lewis, 77, was arrested on Friday after arriving at the Harris County Jail in Houston to visit an inmate, Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said at a news conference. Other attorneys are also suspected of smuggling drug-laced paperwork into the jail but “we don’t think it’s actually widespread,” Gonzalez said. We’re going to make sure we investigate it fully and hold them accountable.”Gonzalez said the county jail is like others around the country that have seen an increase in overdoses. The county jail has had at least 18 inmate deaths this year, some of them believed to be drug-related.

Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy's indoor golf league, TGL, has postponed its inaugural season by a year until the start of 2025, the organization said Monday. But TGL delayed the season, which was expected to start in January, after speaking to key partners. "This decision came after reviewing short-term solutions, potential construction timelines, player schedules, and the primetime sports television calendar," the league said in a statement.
