New York Mayor Eric Adams is expected to face federal charges by prosecutors out of the Southern District of New York as soon as Thursday, two sources familiar with the matter said Wednesday night. Before news of federal charges broke Wednesday, Adams was at a reception at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, which President Joe Biden also attended. “I do not see how Mayor Adams can continue governing New York City,” Ocasio-Cortez said on X. "However, it is clear that defending himself against serious federal charges will require a significant amount of the time and attention needed to govern this great city. The study found that self-reported suicide attempts among these young people did not seem to increase while these bills were under debate in their state. But once the bills became law, the researchers saw a statistically significant increase in suicide attempts among young trans and nonbinary people who lived in those states. “Enacted anti-transgender laws may really be a source of increased minority stress that leads to increased suicide risk or other mental health issues,” Nath said. When legislation is affirming of a member of the community, research shows, suicide attempts decrease. “So it’s not surprising that these laws we now see are demonstrated to have an association with risk of suicide attempts.”

A majority of chief financial officers (55%) say Harris will win the election, according to the Q3 CNBC CFO Council Survey. That's a reversal from the prior CFO survey in Q2 (when President Joe Biden was still the candidate) and a majority of CFOs (58%) believed Trump would win. In the Q2 CFO survey, 29% of executives said they were unsure who would win. The majority belief that Harris will win comes despite an equal majority of CFOs (55%) telling the survey that Trump is better on inflation and for the economy. The CNBC CFO Council Survey was conducted between August 19 and September 19, a period which included the presidential debate.
