  + stars: | 2024-02-05 | by ( Christy Choi | ) edition.cnn.com   time to read: +2 min
While we’ve seen floral and black gowns take center stage on this year’s red carpets, the Grammys are known for showcasing bolder, more theatrical fashion. And who could forget Kim Petras and Sam Smith’s bold red ensembles which matched those of their entourage. Jordan Strauss/Invision/APThankGod4Cody Kayla Oaddams/WireImage/Getty ImagesVictoria Monét looked statuesque in a structured copper mermaid dress by Versace and a Bulgari Serpenti necklace. “I feel a bit (of) Joan of Arc energy in it,” she said during the official red carpet pre-show. The singer completed the look with Tiffany & Co jewelry, including a stunning necklace featuring rubellites, diamonds and an orange sapphire.

In the five years our twin boys have been on this planet, they've hardly ever spent any time apart. They've shared a bedroom since birth, have the same friends, and up until school, did everything together, seven days a week. One twin didn't want to be away from his brotherMaking this decision felt like a huge weight off our minds. AdvertisementAll of our friends and family agreed that separating the boys sounded like the right decision, which was reassuring. Now that they have a term of school under their belts, we do no doubt that this was the right decision for our boys.

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella said Friday that the company has to "move fast" on combatting nonconsensual sexually explicit deepfake images, after AI-generated fake nude pictures of Taylor Swift went viral this week. "Yes, we have to act," Nadella said in response to a question about the deepfakes of Swift. "I think we all benefit when the online world is a safe world. LOS ANGELES (AP) — A jury found Friday that celebrity tattoo artist Kat Von D did not violate a photographer's copyright when she used his portrait of Miles Davis as the basis for a tattoo she put on the arm of a friend. “I'm obviously very happy for this to be over," Von D, who inked her friend's arm with Davis as a gift about seven years ago, said outside the courtroom. The 41-year-old Von D, whose legal name is Katherine von Drachenberg, was already a prominent young tattoo artist when she became a TV personality through her appearances on TLC's “Miami Ink” starting in 2005 on TLC. She was the central star of its spinoff, “LA Ink,” which ran from 2007 to 2011 and made her possibly the most famous tattoo artist in the country. Von D said that despite the victory, she’s not enthused about getting back to work.

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Ohio has banned gender-affirming care for minors and restricted transgender women’s and girls’ participation on sports teams, a move that has families of transgender children scrambling over how best to care for them. The new law bans gender-affirming surgeries and hormone therapies, and restricts mental health care for transgender individuals under 18. The measure also bans transgender girls and women from girls and women’s sports teams at both the K-12 and collegiate level. One advocate, while singing that Jesus loves transgender children, was escorted out of the Senate chamber. At least 23 states have now enacted laws restricting or banning gender-affirming medical care for transgender minors, and many of those states face lawsuits.

AdvertisementIf your children are anything like mine, they will have planned their next birthday party mere moments after their previous birthday party finishes. Having a party with 60 kids felt like too muchThis is doubly awkward when you have twin boys who like completely different things — "Frozen" versus "Lego Ninjago" — and are in separate classes. But with 30 children in each of their classes, does that mean we have to host a party with 60 kids?! Obviously, outsourcing is the key to most successful kids' birthday parties. Yes, there may still be up to 60 kids coming in total, but it feels more manageable now that they won't be there all at once.

'Renaissance: A Film by Beyonce' tops box office

REUTERS/Mario Anzuoni/File Photo Acquire Licensing RightsDec 4 (Reuters) - "Renaissance: A Film by Beyonce" premiered at the top of the U.S. box office, raking in $21.8 million during the typically anemic first weekend of December, according to research firm Comscore. Beyonce Knowles' concert film marked the first time a movie crossed the $20 million mark on this weekend since the 2003 movie "The Last Samurai" starring Tom Cruise, Comscore said. Live Nation reported that the superstar’s 56-stop Renaissance World Tour earned more than $579 million worldwide - a hot ticket that economists say may have fanned inflation in Europe. In addition to the concert scenes, the film gave a rare glimpse at how Beyonce grapples with stardom and motherhood. Although "Renaissance's" box office fell short of Swift's $96 million opening weekend, Comscore's Dergarabedian said the result will likely be the same.

Ron DeSantis squared off against Gavin Newsom on Thursday night in a pointless debate. It's difficult to accurately say who "won" a debate, but the night didn't go smoothly for DeSantis. No humans died on Thursday — unlike the "Crash at Crush" — but the night was still a trainwreck for DeSantis' presidential campaign from the very beginning. Following the first GOP presidential debate this year, Business Insider and several other outlets called Vivek Ramaswamy a breakout star after commanding attention away from his competitors. Unfortunately for DeSantis, the legacy of Thursday night's debate likely won't be about how the Florida governor turned his flopping campaign around against all odds.

Again, not to predetermine or predispose the speaker, I just don't know how many gay people he knows. Marjorie Taylor Greene said she voted against him in part because he voted for the "Democrat gay marriage bill." So you're out of step, you're out of line, Marjorie, if you've got a problem with gay marriage. I don't think during that time, President Obama or then-Vice President Biden were supportive of LGBT equality. Part of the reason that some non-hormonal birth control methods seem to have gained such traction on social media is that there is a tendency among some medical professionals to downplay the side effects of hormonal birth control methods that many women experience. Most women who use birth control are completely or somewhat satisfied with their methods of choice, but a minority of them experience reactions unpleasant enough to seriously impede their daily lives. Over the years, I have heard anecdotally about — and experienced — various side effects to different types of contraception: heavy breakthrough bleeding and abdominal pain with IUDs, mood disturbances with different types of pills, and sexual side effects with everything. Discussion of these issues, often confined to intimate chats among women, was aired out in a great extended bit from the comedian Beth Stelling’s new Netflix special, in which she recounts the various kinds of birth control she’s “experimented recreationally” with over the years. But some physicians say without data that point to the prevalence of some side effects, they find it difficult to respond.
