WASHINGTON (Reuters) -The U.S. has stopped issuing export licenses for most civilian firearms and ammunition for 90 days for all non-governmental users, the Commerce Department said on Friday, citing national security and foreign policy interests. The Commerce Department declined to comment beyond the posting on its website. U.S. companies that sell firearms, including Sturm Ruger & Co., Smith & Wesson Brands and Vista Outdoor, could be impacted by the export ban. Overseas customers include distributors and stores that sell firearms. The pause does not affect previously issued export licenses, Commerce said.

When James and Johanna Windon launched Buena Papa two years ago, they had just $18 in their bank account. Now, they bring in millions of dollars in annual revenue across three North Carolina restaurant locations, they said on Friday's episode of ABC's "Shark Tank" — during which they landed a $400,000 investment offer from millionaire entrepreneur Robert Herjavec. Despite no prior restaurant experience, the pair "invested our life savings [of] $40,000," leaving just $18 behind, James said. Mark Cuban opted out, citing the difficulty of simultaneously operating restaurant locations and overseeing any number of franchisees. That left Robert Herjavec, who offered the Windons $400,000 for 20% of Buena Papa.

Johanna Furtado is suing Peloton, alleging its bike caused her son's death in 2022. Ryan Furtado was later found by the New York Police Department. Johanna Furtado alleges in the suit that Peloton did not provide enough warning that the bike could cause injury if people used it to pull themselves off the floor. On the bike Ryan was using, the lawsuit claims there was only a single warning label, which the suit calls "inadequate." REUTERS/Johanna Geron/File Photo Acquire Licensing RightsCERNOBBIO, Italy, Sept 2 (Reuters) - European Union Commissioner for Economy Paolo Gentiloni said on Saturday he was confident an agreement over re-implementing EU budget rules would be reached by year-end, ruling out an extension of their suspension into 2024. "I'm confident, I'd say I have to be confident, that a deal (over the new budget rules) can be reached by year-end," Gentiloni told reporters on the sidelines of the European House Ambrosetti economic forum in Cernobbio. Italy is preparing a difficult 2024 budget in which it will seek to meet Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni's tax-cutting promises while at the same time reducing the deficit while faced with an economic slowdown. Gentiloni said failing to reach a deal on reviving the rules would mean a return to previous budget rules that did not help promote economic growth and cut sovereign debt in the bloc.
