☆ Michelle Obama launches healthy food and beverage company for kids

CNN —Former first lady Michelle Obama announced Wednesday the launch of a healthy food and beverage company she co-founded to offer parents “healthier, great-tasting products” for their children. Its first product, PLEZi – a fruit juice for kids – contains 75% less sugar than average leading 100% fruit juices. Obama in her role as first lady spearheaded the Let’s Move campaign, a program aimed at ending childhood obesity. The crowning achievement of that campaign was the passage of the 2010 “Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act,” which created federal nutrition standards for school lunches. Let’s Move persisted through criticism from Republicans, food companies, school lunch professionals, and – perhaps most visibly – school kids themselves, some of whom registered their displeasure at new school lunch rules by posting unappetizing photos of meals on social media.

CNN —Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky had no conversations with the White House after a trove of classified US intelligence documents were posted on social media, he told The Washington Post Monday. In an interview with the Post, Zelensky said he learned about the Pentagon leak through news coverage and claimed he “did not receive information from the White House or the Pentagon beforehand.”“We did not have that information. “I don’t want to speak for President Zelensky. While FBI and Pentagon officials piece together how a junior enlisted airman allegedly smuggled classified intelligence documents off a secure air base, defense and intelligence sources say the leak exposed glaring weaknesses in how the Pentagon safeguards its most sensitive secrets. Teixeira faces charges under the Espionage Act after allegedly posting the sensitive intelligence to the social media platform Discord, but has yet to enter a plea.

CNN —House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s official portrait was unveiled in a ceremony Wednesday at the US Capitol, with speeches from old allies and political sparring-mates who reminisced on her historic tenure. The package announced last week includes weapons and artillery rounds, as well as equipment to help Ukraine boost its air defense. Biden also highlighted the $53 million package announced late last month to support Ukraine’s electrical system as it faces a barrage of attacks from Russia, according to the White House statement. He presented a 10-point peace plan to end Russia’s invasion in a video speech to G20 leaders in Bali last month. Biden welcomed his “stated openness to a just peace based on fundamental principles enshrined in the United Nations Charter,” the White House said Sunday.
