London CNN —Beijing has launched an investigation into prices of pork from the European Union, targeting a major EU food export just days after Brussels hiked tariffs on electric vehicles from China. A hike in import tariffs could be very costly for European pork producers if it ends up hurting demand in China, the world’s largest pork market and the main destination for EU pork exports. The EU is the second-biggest pork producer after China. According to EU customs data, the bloc exported more than €2.5 billion ($2.7 billion) worth of pork, including offal, to China last year. Beijing had been widely expected to use targeted measures to try to dissuade EU officials from permanently adopting higher tariffs on electric cars imported from China, a decision the EU must make by November.

Starboard Value sued software maker Autodesk on Monday to delay the company's annual meeting and reopen the board nominating window and allow the activist to mount a proxy fight. Activists can typically only begin a proxy fight, involving the nomination of a slate of directors to replace the existing board, if they submit their proposals within a specific window. Starboard confirmed in a letter on Monday that it has a stake in Autodesk valued at more than $500 million. The company waited until April 1 to tell shareholders about the investigation, filings show, which was more than a week after the nominating window had closed. An Autodesk representative referred CNBC to its prior statements on the matter, where it said it would refuse Starboard's requests to reopen the nominating window and delay the annual meeting.

CNN —A fire in Los Angeles County that forced the evacuations of hundreds of people from a state park has burned nearly 15,000 acres, authorities said Sunday, just one day after it started. A red flag warning was issued for the I-5 corridor in Los Angeles County and the Ventura County mountains until 5:00 p.m. Monday afternoon. The wildfire began Saturday afternoon in Gorman, an unincorporated community in northwestern Los Angeles County. California State Park Services evacuated 1,200 people from Hungry Valley Park, Cal Fire said. Adidas has launched an investigation into allegations of large-scale bribery in China after the company received a whistleblower complaint that accused senior staff of embezzling "millions of euros", the Financial Times reported on Sunday. Adidas confirmed that it had received an anonymous letter on June 7 indicating potential compliance violations in China. The German sportswear company said it was investigating this matter together with external legal counsel. According to the FT, the letter alleges that Adidas staff received kickbacks from external service providers who were commissioned by the company that include "millions in cash from suppliers, and physical items such as real estate". New York CNN —A federal investigation is underway after a Southwest Airlines flight plunged toward the ocean off the coast of a Hawaiian island. The incident occurred April 11 aboard Southwest Flight 2786, but only came to light publicly on Friday after Bloomberg reported Southwest sent a memo to pilots about the incident. Flight tracking data from ADS-B Exchange shows the plane dropping at a rate of more than 4,000 feet per minute while only 600 feet above sea level. The Southwest Airlines Pilots Association has not commented. The flight was an inter-island hop from the main Honolulu airport to Lihue airport on the neighboring island of Kauai.

CNN —At least nine people were shot at a recreation area in Rochester Hills, Michigan, on Saturday, and a suspect is contained at a home surrounded by officers near the crime scene, police said. One of the victims was 8 years old, said Bouchard, who added he could not comment on the age of the other victims. Bouchard said it appears the suspect pulled up to the recreation area, exited a vehicle and opened fire roughly 20 feet away, reloading multiple times. Authorities are bringing in additional assets, including SWAT teams and armored vehicles to assist officers at the scene, Bouchard said. “A vehicle that matched what had been described as a vehicle leaving the scene was there,” the sheriff said.

Paris, France CNN —A runner has died while participating in the Ultra Trail of Haut-Giffre (UTHG) competition on Saturday, organizers said in a statement, amid rough weather conditions in the area. The runner was not identified in the statement and organizers said first responders provided aid while awaiting transport. The four runners fell “in a mountainous area made slippery by the weather,” Bonneville public prosecutor Karline Bouisset told BFMTV. The three injured runners had all been transported to a hospital, according to Bouisset. Organizers were forced to postpone the start of the run due to “difficult weather conditions” earlier on Saturday.
